Desert Islands Crafter’s Challenge #9 Cyndi’s Itinerary

It’s the first of June (Wow! Can you believe it?), so that means it’s time for another Desert Island’s Crafter’s Challenge! This time around, we went to one of our very own DT Members, Cyndi, for an itinerary.

Cyndi's Itinerary:
1. Use glimmer Mist or similar
2. Orange
3. Something recycled
4. Pull out your scraps!
5. Chipboard
6. Anything but a card
7. 2+ images
8. Glitter or Bling
9. Pull out those chalks
10. A hand-made embellishment

So what does all this mean? Easy! You have now been challenged to create a project using at least 3 of the items listed above. Then you can upload your creation to the DICC Blog. Now you have a chance at creating your very own itinerary for us to create with!

I loved Cyndi’s list. It was thought provoking and unique. And, I am very happy with my finished project! I used items 1, 2, 4, 7, 8 & 9 for my card.

As soon as I saw this list, I knew I needed to break out my pumpkin Glimmer Screen and Clear Stamps from Tattered Angels. And of course, I had to use Jack O’ Lantern Glimmer Mist with them! I also added that creepy ass spider (also from Tattered Angels) too. Ew. But, it totally works on this card!

I added some chalk to the stem, leaves and ripped edge of the top layer.  Then, I brushed on some Haunted Shadows Glimmer Mist to the outer edge of the main card. And, I added (with Diamond Stickles) some gold chunky glitter that I had gotten from Terra a while ago.

I purposely left the upper right corner of the card empty. As someone that often likes to fill in space (just ask my husband!), I found that empty area a little unsettling. And perfect for a wicked little Halloween card. What do you think?

I hope you will play along with us at DICC. For some more inspiration, please visit the rest of the gals; links below.

Angela Enion ~ Berenice Rendon ~ Cyndi Bundi

Erica Johnson-Wanzer ~ Jo Willis ~ Juanita Gillen

Suzi Weyremaster ~ Tasha Beasley ~ Taylor Usry

Also, I am entering this in the latest Macabre Monday Challenge. The challenge is E.M.O. You need to create something with items thatstart with those 3 letters. So… E is for Edges (torn). M is for Mist, and O is for Orange. Fun challenge!

Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Looks awesome Alison! I really like the effect on the pumpkin. I like the mists, but have trouble with my misters. They like to drop instead of mist. Yours looks marvelous!
Oh Wow! Awesome. And to quote the kid who just wandered by "Awesome tarantual!"
Gorgeous work Alison! Thanks so much for playing along with our EMO challenge at HDH :D

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off ...

Two Huge Valentine’s Day Hops!

I am in not one, but two Valentine’s Day hops! Not bad for someone that doesn’t even like Valentine’s Day… The first is via Smeared & Smudged . It’s time for our monthly Member Blog Hop! The second was started by Taylor Usry . Please bear with me…this post is long because I am sharing 2 projects and the hop lists are huge. Let’s stat with Smeared & Smudged, shall we? My dear friend Alex and I collaborated on the theme for this month’s S&S Member Hop. Instead of making it a free-for –all, we decided to challenge our members a little…create something Valentine’s Day / love themed, but there is a catch.  Because we are Smeared and Smudged you can not use any of the following: No hearts No red or pink Nothing ‘cute’ unless you make it uncute of course :) Ok, so it’s not dark and scary…but it’s definitely not cute either. I used my colored pencils for the focal image.  It’s from Smeared Ink’s Smitten collection. The “pretty fly” is from the teir teen...
