I Was Made for You…Macabre Monday #77

As many of you know, I try to play along with Macabre Monday over at Haunted Design House as often as I can. I squeezed in some time to create a card for their latest challenge… Dr. Death . We had to make something with a medical theme. I immediately thought of some of the rad images I have from Strange Skin . And this is what I came up with. I used one of my absolute favorite images from them, the Bride of Frankenstein Cameo. I think she’s gorgeous. I colored her with colored pencils and my watercolor markers. Here’s a close up. I accentuated the pieced together look by making her skin all different colors… like she really was made up from different creatures. She also has quite a weave going…lots of different colors. You can click on any of the pictures to get a close up. The screw heads on the side are from Smeared Ink’s Urban Decay collection. Yup, the same ones I just used in Friday’s post! Screws are SO versatile!!! I hand wrote the senti, making it a little scratchy. The 3

Screwed

I’ve been MIA from Bloggyland this week because I’ve been sick with a cold. I’m REALLY looking forward to Spring time! Anywho, I thought I would share a layout I made for the Roller Derby custom album I have been commissioned to create. Of course, I used some Smeared Ink stamps on it, as Friday is my day to share SI projects with you. I used some of the screw heads from the Urban Decay collection. I didn’t cut them apart…I kept my rubber intact because I knew it would make a fab border someday! Please check out the black patterned paper. It’s filled with screws! That’s how I got the idea for the title and for using the screw head stamps. I embossed them, so they are raised and glossy. Not a super exciting post today, and I’m sorry for that. But I feel like Hell and I really need some rest. On a good note, I got some excellent feedback for the woman who commissioned me to make this album. That’s always great news! Have an inspiring day!

Making the Most of your Bombshell Stamps: A Tutorial

With all of my stamps, I am always looking for new ways to reinvent them. Giving them a fresh new look makes me feel like I have a new set of stamps to play with! I was going through my Bombshells , and I noticed that I could swap bodies around a bit. This is not a gory project- I promise! ;) To start, you need Butterfly Queen and Bombshell Angel. What we are going to do is put Angel’s head and torso on Butterfly Queen’s legs. So, you don’t need to stamp out the entire image of either. I have made two versions of this “morph,” which is why I have two of each Bombshell. Color in the skin and the hair. I used pencils for that. You will notice that on Butterfly Queen’s image on the top right I did not color in her belly. You can click on any of the images to see it bigger. Next, color the outfits. Please note that I completed the line across Angel’s body. She is now wearing a crop top. On the green version of Angel, I colored her outfit in completely. I used watercolor markers for the

Heart Throb Tag

I am so excited that Strange Skin is sponsoring Macabre Monday this week. Yeah, I know…it’s a little late to be writing about it, but I’ve had a lot going on the past few days…I’m just glad I was able to make something. As you may or may not know, Strange Skin is a company that was created and owned by my sister Pamela and her boyfriend Jorge. You can read all about them over at Haunted Design House. This week’s challenge is Love Bites. Strange Skin just came out with some fang-tastic new digis (have you seen them yet???) that are just perfect for this challenge. I made a tag. The tag reads: “You were everyone’s Heart Throb… But I wanted yours to throb just for me… I love you.” A wee bit twisted, no? I added some delicious fibers to the top of the tag, which would make a fabulous bookmark. I colored the heart with chalk, and the blood with a Sakura Jelly Roll pen. In real life, the blood has a bit of dimension and is quite glossy. It was a quick and easy project, but I think it has

You Rock!

I wanted to share the Valentine’s Day card that I made for Gene with you. Please note that it is NOT your typical Valentine…but would you expect anything less from me? I used a fabulous image from Kenny K . This is the first time I colored Star up and she has immediately become one of my faves from them! I made the card as bright and bold as I could, and I think it’s pretty rockin’! ;) The theme for this week’s Kenny K challenge is circles…so of course I had to play along there! Circles galore! Isn’t Star sassy and hawt? I love how she’s peeking from behind her guitar. She has been colored with my watercolor markers, minus her skin which was done in pencil. The “You Rock!” sentiment is from Inkadinkado…give to me by my rad friend Tonya. She had this set for a while, and realized she wasn’t really going to use it. She gave it to me, in hopes that I would give it a better home. Well, I’ve only had the set for a couple of weeks, and I have already used it 3 times! Not bad, right? So Ge

#39: That’s How She Rolls

I was just commissioned to create a custom scrapbook. The album is about a local roller derby team. This album is going to be a blast to make! I have the first double page spread to share with you. And, since it’s my day to share a Smeared Ink project, I used some of their rad stamps on the spread. Bear with my photos, please. They are awful.   You’ll be able to see this a lot better if you click on it..it’ll make it bigger! I started off by using “That’s how I roll” from the Teen Style Sayings set. Then, I went to my new fave go-to stamps from Quoth the Raven. I adore those background stamps! The photographer took a mess of action shots of #39 (who is receiving this album as a gift) as she went around the rink. I thought that it was a great idea. I plan on adding some more embellishments to this page, but at the moment, I’m not sure what they’ll be. It looks almost finished to me…but not completely. But I was really happy when I realized that I had that Smeared Ink tit

SISC47: Anything But a Card!

This week’s StampInsanity Challenge is to make anything but a card. Which is great, because it forced me to make a scrapbook page. Not that I need to be “forced” to scrap…but it certainly takes me longer to make a layout then it does for me to make a card. And I am SOOOOO far behind on my scrapbooking, that I really need to get on it! So, I chose an awesome SI Birthday quote, and made a page of my little girl, Rhiannon. I know, I know…she’s adorable! ;) The quote says, “Today as we celebrate your Birthday, we celebrate the gift of you to the World!” Sweet right? The colors in her shirt are fantastic, and I just got some new paper pads from my Mom, which matched perfectly ! They are from DCWV. Full of sparkle and totally bright and cheery! Just like Rhiannon (well…most of the time she’s cheery.). I used Lily Pad Glimmer Mist on the sentiment, then inked it and embossed it with glitter. If you click on any of the pictures, you can see them bigger. I used a couple other em

February Bombshell GDT Challenge

Greetings once again! Today I have a Bombshell Stamps card to share with you. I made it for Ms. February’s challenge. Ms. February is Dawn Knight , and she asked us to do a color challenge (many of you know how much I lurve those!) We have to use Red, Turquoise, and Kraft…a combination that I adore! Can I toot my own horn for a sec? I love this card. Love it. I am going to make it in a mess of different color combos…but all with the Kraft paper. Once I figured out what I wanted to do, it came together pretty quickly, so I think I can bang out a bunch of them fast. And put them in my Etsy shop, perhaps? Pencils and watercolor markers were used for this…no surprise, right? I used 2 sets of Bombshell Stamps… Butterfly Queen and Pin-Stripes. Have I told you lately how much I enjoy using those Pin-Stripes??? My husband (who honestly really likes what I make) stopped. And looked. For a while. He really liked this card. His favorite color is red, so I ‘m not surprised. Hope he likes it

Desert Islands Crafters Challenge #2: Juanita’s Itinerary

It’s time for the second Desert Islands Crafters Challenge ! I can’t believe February is half over already! For those of you that haven’t heard if DICC yet, here’s the scoop. On the 1st and 15th of each month, we will post an itinerary of items that, if you were stranded on a desert island, you would need to make a project with. You don’t need to use all 10, but you’ve gotta use at least 3 of the items. If you play along, you will have a chance to have YOUR itinerary up for a challenge! This time around, we used Juanita’s itinerary, which I hafta say, I loved! I’ll let you guess why. Here’s her list. 1. Monochromatic 2. Movie or Book inspired 3. Buttons 4. The word “ FRIEND(S)” in your sentiment 5. Border Punch 6. Only one pattern paper 7. The color Red 8. No flowers 9. Swirls 10. Sparkle This brought me right back to the days of Twilight Tuesday! I used 6 of the 10 items on Juanita’s itinerary. Numbers 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10. My stampe

Two Huge Valentine’s Day Hops!

I am in not one, but two Valentine’s Day hops! Not bad for someone that doesn’t even like Valentine’s Day… The first is via Smeared & Smudged . It’s time for our monthly Member Blog Hop! The second was started by Taylor Usry . Please bear with me…this post is long because I am sharing 2 projects and the hop lists are huge. Let’s stat with Smeared & Smudged, shall we? My dear friend Alex and I collaborated on the theme for this month’s S&S Member Hop. Instead of making it a free-for –all, we decided to challenge our members a little…create something Valentine’s Day / love themed, but there is a catch.  Because we are Smeared and Smudged you can not use any of the following: No hearts No red or pink Nothing ‘cute’ unless you make it uncute of course :) Ok, so it’s not dark and scary…but it’s definitely not cute either. I used my colored pencils for the focal image.  It’s from Smeared Ink’s Smitten collection. The “pretty fly” is from the teir teen Style Sa

Perfect Couple

It’s Friday! So it’s my day to post a project for Smeared Ink . I used an image and sentiment from one of the newest collections, Smitten. I love this collection because it’s got fantastic vintage images that have just the right amount of snarkiness. And the sentiments are very versatile. I used Crabby Love for my focal image. Colored up with my pencils. I was inspired by this week’s Mojo Monday sketch, so that’s what I used for my layout. Check out the rain drops by her feet. Perfect little splashes! On the inside, I’d like to putt something witty…like, “Because you’re both crabby!” What do you think? I used Glimmer Mists on the sentiment. Then I tore up and inked the edges. Are you worried about me losing my goth side??? Don’t be! I’ll be doing my regular freaky stuff again! Have you been visiting the brand spankin’ new Smeared & Smudged Design Team blog ??? It’s called Smudgy Antics, and you’ve gotta check it out! Each of the DT is assigned to a different day t

Stamping Bella Momma & Baby

Some of my Twi Girls and I have started to swap some images with each other, and Erica recently sent us some Stamping Bella images…which I have none of. But boy are they cute! I may just have to get a few of these, when I have some extra $$$. I really liked the image of the mom with her baby, so I decided to use that one first. Pretty different from what I posted yesterday, huh? Welcome to my “sweeter” side. Notice it’s still pretty inky! ' I colored in this image as my kidlings were coloring. They insisted that I use their crayons. So I did! And I really think it came out cute! I busted out my new EK punch…again. I have coveted it for quite some time… hope you don’t get sick of seeing it! The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday. So what do you think of my “sweet” side? I’ve gotta say, I have an easier time with the goth/rocker/freaky side…but I think I do alright with this style too. :) Have an inspiring day!

Fun with Strange Skin!

You may not have heard of Strange Skin , but prepare to be educated! This company was started by my sister Pamela, and her boyfriend Jorge. If you’ve been a follower of mine for a while, you have probably seen me work with some of the wickedly cool images. Today, I bring you not one, but 2 cards featuring their fang-tastic images. I had originally planned on creating a card with one of their zombie images for Macabre Monday, but then I found out that Strange Skin was about to release a whole mess of new digis! So of course, I had to play with those (being the big sis totally has it’s perks!) So let us begin with Macabre Monday #75 : Flesh-Eating Frenzy! You may have seen this image before. My Twisted Sistah, Lady Brayton has done magical things with this image. This is my first attempt. I colored the image with a mix of my pencils and watercolor markers. I made sure that I kept the colors mottled…I didn’t want a smooth texture. I wanted a little bit of grit and grime, even thou
