Smeared and Smudged Blog Hop and Macabre Monday 41: Vile Vintage

Greetings! Today I bring you a little bit of my favorite day of the year. Halloween. And not only that, but I bring you Halloween vintage style (for Macabre Mondays) and a freak-tastic blog hop for Smeared and Smudged. Let’s get this party started!

Halloween-Box1

I love decorating wood. Love it. Used to do it all the time. Never really get the chance to anymore. However, I wanted to do an altered piece for the hop, and then when I saw Barb’s latest challenge of creating something Vile Vintage for the ‘weenie, it sealed the deal. So I made a box! A lovely box featuring scrumptious vintage images using clear stamps from Rusty Pickle.

Halloween-Box2

I painted the box a grapey purple, then covered the lid with Distress Crackle Paint. Never used it before…but I love it! Detail shot below! Then I added a deep orangy gold (called Monarch) to age the grape a bit. Stamped it. The, rubbed on a bit ‘o Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Last, some spritzes of Walnut Gold Glimmer Mist. The result? Fabulously old looking! And a hint of creep!

Halloween-Box3

Here you can see the Glimmer Mist better. Click on any of the pictures to see them bigger. I really need to put on some nail polish!

Halloween-Box4

And here you can see the fabulous crackling effect. Love that! Must play with that little jar some more! I also think that I will be seeling this little beauty in my Etsy shop.

I am going to try to play along with Macabre Monday again this week…we’ll see if I get the time… how could I pass up Vintage Halloween??? That’s the BEST! It reminds me of Salem… The Husband and I haven’t been there in so long…sniff!

Now, hop along! Hop to the next stop! Enjoy yourself! Here is the complete list of blogs you should totally visit! They are all creep-tastic! Have an inspiring day!!!

OMG, this is so cool! You are so very creative and much more adventurous than I! I would be scared to death to add all that detail and then stamp on top of it - I would for sure mess it up! Not you though - this turned out fabulous!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off ...

Two Huge Valentine’s Day Hops!

I am in not one, but two Valentine’s Day hops! Not bad for someone that doesn’t even like Valentine’s Day… The first is via Smeared & Smudged . It’s time for our monthly Member Blog Hop! The second was started by Taylor Usry . Please bear with me…this post is long because I am sharing 2 projects and the hop lists are huge. Let’s stat with Smeared & Smudged, shall we? My dear friend Alex and I collaborated on the theme for this month’s S&S Member Hop. Instead of making it a free-for –all, we decided to challenge our members a little…create something Valentine’s Day / love themed, but there is a catch.  Because we are Smeared and Smudged you can not use any of the following: No hearts No red or pink Nothing ‘cute’ unless you make it uncute of course :) Ok, so it’s not dark and scary…but it’s definitely not cute either. I used my colored pencils for the focal image.  It’s from Smeared Ink’s Smitten collection. The “pretty fly” is from the teir teen...
