Friends Having Fun Sketch Challenge #1

Yes! I did it! I made my Friends Having Fun card! We are not supposed to be stressing about these challenges (hence the “Fun!” part of the name), but I really wanted to play along. I loved Dani’s sketches from Twilight Tuesday (which I still miss so much!), so I really wanted to make something for her latest sketch! Take a peek.

Ain’t it purdy??? It is until you see my version!

It’s a bit off kilter wouldn’t you say? But that’s how I roll! I had this image from Smeared Ink’s Chicks Dig Guns collection for a while now. I knew it would work perfectly for this sketch. I think that this is my favorite image from that collection. She’s really pretty, I love what she’s wearing, and that gun just nasties the whole “pretty as a picture” image up! I even left her socks white to butch her up a teeny bit.

Here’s a close-up:

She’s colored in with my Spectracolor colored pencils from Design. I stamped her on some cardstock that has little black flecks in it. I thought it gave it some umph. Then I edged it with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Click on any of the pictures to see them bigger!

I chose an ugly brown cardstock (I love brown, don’t get me wrong… this one just looks dirrrty!), and I skanked it up a bit with some more of my Walnut Ink . Stamped those 3 borders in the same, and nastied those babies up with Antique Linen Distress Ink. Those borders are all from Stampers Anonymous. And I added some Vintage Photo Distress Stickles to the bottom corner.

It felt great to do this card! For a lot of the challenges I participate in, I have to stick to a specific company, or cater to a certain style. Here, I ran like hell! It was great to get a little dirty and inked up! I haven’t really done it in a while, and I really need to get back to it. I always felt that the dirtier my hands were, the better the project was! That’s not to say that I’m unhappy with what I’ve been making lately, but I think you get what I’m sayin’ right? It feels good to do stuff like I used to. So go and ink up your hands and join in on the FHF sketch! I’d love to see what you do with Dani’s great sketch!

Love it! I think I like the flapper girl the best though...she would look cool with an old time machine gun. This one just makes me think of the old west and brothels and a hangover. lol Great card and take on the sketch!

Mediterranean Dreams Shaker

Hello! Today I have a card that features the Mediterranean Dreams Subscription Kit from White Rose Crafts.  This fabulous Subscription Kit brings together sparkling, azure Mediterranean seas, sun-bleached shores and the rich colors of vibrant Mediterranean cultures in a carefully curated kit. I knew I just had to try the Jillibean Soup shaker card and I chose to use one of the stamps (from Kaisercraft) to make my background. I stamped the seashell with Tea Dye Distress Oxide all over the background of the card. Then I applied some Walnut Stain Distress Oxide to my craft mat, spritzed it with some water, and splattered it on to my card base. Last, I inked the edges with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide with a Mini Blending Brush. For my sentiment, I die cut a stitched rectangle from my stash, out of the pearly yellow cardstock that came in the kit and stamped it with "Wish You Were Here" stamp from the same "Summer Splash" stamp set, with StazOn Pigment ink. Echo Park Blog Hop with Imagine

Greetings! This is my second post for the day. This one is not part of the 31 Days of Halloween, but rather a super-duper blog hop that the Artists in Residence for Imagine are doing with Echo Park . So if you're here for my Day 7 project, please check out the post HERE . But before you do that, scroll on to check out this one. There are prizes up for grabs, so be sure to check out the Imagine Blog as well as the Echo Park Blogs for details. I created my background by applying Dandelion and Tangelo Memento Ink to my brayer. Then I sprayed it with Ink Potion No. 9 to help the colors blend and to act as an extender to keep the inks wet longer. After I rolled the colors out on to watercolor paper and let it dry, I stamped the lovely doily-like image from Echo Park's Simply Sweet Stamp Set with Grape Jelly Memento. I also received the super pretty Heart Doily Designer Die  which I used with a true purple cardstock. But it needed something....and in rolls the super fabul...
