Bombshell Stamps Blog Hop!

I am so excited to be in my very first Bombshell Stamps Blog Hop! I am so lovin’ these stamps. They are a blast to color in, and some of you may already know, I have always loved pin-up art! So, let’s get right to it! Here was the challenge Kas gave us:

So...
Pretty In Pink – use pink, pastel, or spring inspired projects.
Doesn’t sound like your “cup of tea” How about an 80’s inspired project…
A lot of different ways that this can be taken…it’s up to you to do your magic.
Need some more ideas? Check out some great quotes from the movie.

And here is the prize that’s up for grabs!

So I decided to go with an 80’s theme. I loved the 80’s! The big hair, the crazy makeup, the wacky clothes… ahh, memories!

I used the Bombshell Angel image for this card. I think she’s so cool. And I think she’s lookin’ like she’s straight outta 1987 don’tcha think??? Here’s a close up:

I used a lot of different markers from Sakura for this project. I drew on bright green fishnets (who wouldn’t want a pair of those???), gave her bustier a fab hot pink glow, drew on a smattering of bangles, some crazy necklaces and lots o’ blue eyeshadow! But let’s not forget her skirt! I used a piece of wired sheer ribbon (leftover from my wedding!). I scrunched one side of the ribbon and tightened up the wire, and left the other side as is. This created a fabulously full skirt! Doesn’t she look like she’s dancing? Hmmm…I think she may just be rockin’ out to Madonna! It’s too bad the sheerness doesn’t come out in the photo too well. It looks pretty cool to see her fishnets through the skirt!

Here’s a close up of what my girl is sayin’ (and yes, I still say “rad!” to this day!!!). I wanted you to see the multi colored embossing glitter I used. See the rainbow effect? Click on any of the pics to see them bigger.

I think this challenge was totally dope! Now if you’ll excuse me… I’m gonna go and listen to some New Kids on the Block! Enjoy the rest of the hop!!!

Alison, I adore this card! I was lucky to have my teen years in the 80's ( I turned 18 in 1990--amazing since I'm only 29 now). I had blond bangs for my Duran Duran phase, dyed my hair black for a Motley Crue concert, wore spandex pants to school--I wore solid black and my bff wore her zebra striped pair! LOL Can you imagine? I met Ozzy Osbourne in 1986 backstage at his concert where METALLICA opened for him! The 80's were awesome and your card brings all that back! And yes, I wore a bustier once! LOL

This is totally tubular.

LOL

The 80s rocked and you captured the essence of the age so well in this piece. I love that the ribbon was from your wedding - it's touches like that that really make a card special.

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
