Gothic Green Mermaid

Hello! Over at Smeared and Smudged, we do swaps every month. One for images, and one for ATC’s. Last month’s image swap was mermaids, and I used the following image (from Queen Kat Designs) in this card. I opened my little envelope filled with fantastic images and this one was right on top! I fell in love with her! She is so pretty and yet so sly looking. I think Alex stamped her… anyway, I immediately started to color her in (lucky the mail comes right when I put the babies down for their naps!!!). I was instantly inspired by her. Don’t ya love when that happens? Coincidentally, Alex just put up a post about how things sometimes just fall into place.

Am I rambling? Sorry! So StampItCrazy is having a Gothic Green Challenge this week, in which I am going to enter my mermaid card. So… wanna see it?

She’s so sassy! I colored her with my trust Spectracolor colored pencils. I made her green to represent deep, kinda murky water. Her hair is bright orange like some forms of coral. She is wearing gold hoop earrings- stolen from a Pirate she seduced and has air bubbles made of pearls (thanks Terra!). Here’s a close-up:

The background was so much fun! I have this awesome stamp from that I love very much. It’s so simple and pretty. Anyway, I painted on some Black Gold Glimmer Mist. Yup! Painted! Thanks for the fab idea Dani! I trimmed the edges with it too. Wrapped some awesome fiberous (?) yarn around the green paper and pop dotted everything.

Here’s another shot of her mingling with my lovely crocuses:

Did you click on any of the pics to see them bigger? So now I am off to see some of the other awesome creations for this challenge. Have an inspiring day!

Oh! One more thing!!! Do you know what tomorrow is??????

New Moon DVD release day! How have I not been blogging about this the whole time? Tonight my sis and BF will be going to Borders for the midnight release bash. SO STOKED!!! Yup. There will be pictures. Yup. It will be awesome! Until next time, Peace, Love and Vampires!!!

Great card. The yarn looks like something she brought with her from the sea. Totally perfect for the card. I also giggled when I saw her air bubbles - who would not love to breathe out pearls?

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
