TTIC Color Challenge #2: Thoughts of Bella

Happy Tuesday! Today marks the second Twilight Tuesday Color Challenge, and I am so lovin’ this combination! But first, I have some exciting news! Some of the Smeared & Smudge Girls were making projects for the Haunted Design House blog. In fact, the fab woman that owns the blog is part of the S7S group! Well, last week, she issued a challenge about Fallen Angels. HERE you can see my contribution to the challenge. Well, I won! I am part of the Gruesome Twosome this week (which is awesome in and of itself!) but I also won the challenge so I’ll be getting this crazy cool stamp that I cannot wait to work with! Don’t worry, you will see my creations as soon as I have, well, created them! But on to this week’s Color Challenge!

Image

Hello! Happy Tuesday! Alison here with our Second Twilight Tuesday Color Challenge! This week, my colors were inspired by Bella. I chose Garnet because originally, that was her favorite gemstone (before she went & changed it to Topaz for Edward's eyes!). Next, I picked Phoenix Sky Blue because Bella frequently mentions how she misses the colors of her hometown. Lastly, I decided that we need to throw a neutral into the mix, so I picked Forks' Sky. It's a grayish green. Don't get too thrown by the shade I chose... if you just use a regular gray, that's fine! But if you wanna try to really wow us... go for this a little more interesting, if not a wee bit dreary color! Can't wait to see your creations!!!

And here is what I created:

I used one of my newest stamps from Sweet Pea. Plate #29. Isn’t she gorgeous??? Sadly, I didn’t have the exact shade of grayish green that I wanted to use in my stock of colored pencils, but these grays work too. And it sure rained as if we loved in Forks here on LI yesterday! Buckets I tell you!!!

Here’s a closeup of my coloring… Please click on any of the pics to see them bigger! I also added a bit of Twinkle H2O’s to her skin and the background.

This is a crummy pic, but I included it so that you could see the shimmer. Love those Twinkles!!! But I love this stamp so much too! I can’t wait to color her again!!!

Our Design Team has fantastic projects to display for this weeks challenge – please go and check them out!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
