Hello! I have an altered art piece to show you today. I’m pretty excited about it! It’s made from a baby snacks canister. Baby food generally comes in some great packaging, this is just one of the many things that I have been itching to create! I also incorporated a hint of art journaling. My girls over at Smeared and Smudged will hopefully like my first attempt! Ok, here’s the container originally:
I photographed it with my hand so that you could get an idea of the size of the canister. I wanted to utilize the lid with this project, but the paper that inspired me just didn’t work with the color of the lid.
I have several views. Click on any of the photos to see them bigger.
I had these “Words to Go” from K & Company, and as I often use their “Letters to Go,” I don’t usually break out the Words. So, taking some inspiration from the amazing talent of my fellow Smeared and Smudged gals, I decided to add words about the stars.
The patterned paper is from My Mind’s Eye, the plain stock is from Prism. Eyelets from American Crafts, marker from EK Success. The stamps are from The Metropolitan Museum of art Stars, Suns and Moon collection. I was a bit worried about the glue I was going to use. Of course it had to be something durable. So as I rummaged through my box 'o’ glue, I came across these strips from Glue Arts that I had never used. Well, they were perfect! They are so strong! The cardstock I used is pretty heavy and thick, so I didn’t think it would work. I figured I was going to have to break out the Mod Podge (which for this project, I didn’t really want to do), but nope! The Glue Arts strips were perfect!
So there you have it. The canister is a great size for holding pens, markers, paint brushes, ribbons, money, etc. Next time I use one of these, I’m going to try and incorporate the lid. I’ll just have to use bolder colors! Until tomorrow (when I’ll have a new TTIC for ya!) !
