Copper Penny Hex Shakers

Hello Crafty Friends! Today I am sharing a shaker card using the gorgeous Copper Penny Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground . But before we jump in, let me ask you....do you play along with The Daily Marker's 30 Day Coloring Challenge? I try to play along each time it happens, but I admittedly have a tough time completing the entire month, unfortunately. I really need to work on that! The reason I ask is because I am guessing that some of you, like me, wind up with a bunch of colored images but not a completed project. I keep an envelope of my colored images on my desk so that I can rummage through them any time I need to make something quick, or I'm not sure what I feel like working on. That's what I did with this card. This adorable kitty from Vera Lane was colored and fussy cut some time ago, but I just didn't have a chance to complete a project with him. He's part of the Quirky Zombie Couple and Cat digi set.  I colored the cat with Memento Markers ,...

Holiday Spirit: Aurora Wings Challenge #73

Seasons Greetings! Today I have a project for the latest Aurora Wings Challenge which is "Holiday Spirit." I decided to take the theme as a two-fer. Not only is this a holiday card, but the "spirits" are flowing too. I used the Wine Sprite for my card, and gave her a Merlot look. I colored her with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. Here's a closeup. I found a lovely paper in my stash from Wild Rose Studio from their Holly Lane collection. For my sentiment, I had some pretty red glitter cardstock from DCWV that I die cut with an old alphabet set from QuicKutz. I also added some sequins from a few different Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground. The sequins and the sentiment were all glued on with On Point Glue from Imagine. On my card base, I inked the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink, and then Peeled Paint Distress Ink. After I adhered my background to my base, I added Rock Candy Stickles to the edges. This gave just a touch of sp...

You are Amazing

Hello crafty folks! Today I have a card featuring a very special Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground. I used the Harvest Joy Blend, which is only available through the White Rose Crafts October Subscription Kit . There are still some kits available, so if you would like to get your hands on this very special Sparkle Blend, and all of the other great items in it, grab it while you can. I don't know about you, but sometimes I like to just color whatever image I am inspired by, and they don't always make it on to a card right away. That's what happened with this sweet dragon from Mama Elephant . He's from the fabulous Me and my Dragon stamp set. I ADORE this stamp set. If ever there was a stamp set made for me, it's this one. But back to my card. I stamped this guy with VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne. Then I used watercolors from Recollections to paint him. I went back over the stamped image with a black PITT pen from Faber Castell because these watercolo...

Owl Hugs for my Son

Greetings! Earlier in the month, I shared THIS card that I made with the Unicorn Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground and 2 of the Give a Hoot stamps from Elizabeth Crafts. Today, I am sharing a card I made from my son using the same stamp set, but for the shaker I used a combination of Sparkle Blends. I adore the sweetness of these owl stamps, and I knew my son would love a card with them just as much as my daughter. I had previously colored the "Momma" owl, so that helped me choose the directions for the baby and the rest of the card. After I colored the owls, I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. Next I chose a couple of fun patterned papers from DCWV, and I cut a window in one of them using Elizabeth Craft Designs' Stitched Rectangles. Then I moved on to choosing the Sparkle Blends for the card. It turned out that there wasn't one that was quite right for the card, so I decided to create my own! That's the beauty of playing with S...

Boo Banner: Get Kids Crafty Blog Hop

Hello crafty peeps! I am really excited to share today's project with you. It's for the September Get Kids Crafty Blog hop, and our theme is...wait for it....Halloween! It's the most wonderful time of year, and my daughter and I were really stoked to make this project together. Miss R really wanted to make some kind of decoration instead of a card, so we decided to make a banner together. I have an old Sizzix banner die set that cuts out different parts of banners so that it is extremely customizable. She went through my Halloween papers, and of course fell in love with some glitter cardstock from an older Martha Stewart paper pad. Then she decided that she wanted a purple background and green letters for her "Boo." Knowing that the word is only 3 letters long, we thought that it needed to have at least 2 more sections, so we grabbed the Framed Witch Metal Stencil from Stampendous. The stencil is perfect, because we were able to easily have the witch facin...

Owl Hugs for my Daughter

Hello! Today I have a new shaker card to share with you. I made this card for my daughter for her first day of school. I recently purchased the Give a Hoot stamp set from Elizabeth Craft Designs , and I knew using them would be perfect as she loves owls so much. I colored them in some of our favorite colors and used the  coordinating die s to cut them out. To stamp them, I used VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne, and to color the images, I used Zig Clean Color Markers. My daughter loves vivid colors so I knew that I needed to use the gorgeous Unicorn Sparkle Blend on this card. It has so many stunning colors (including opalescent sequins), and it is truly our favorite of all the Blends. In the photo below, you can see the wide range of sizes and colors in this unique Blend.  My daughter and I also really like to mix patterns, and I enjoy adding a fun pattern behind my shaker, for when the sequins and other bits fall to the bottom. So I chose a fun floral ...
