Succulents

Hello! This week, the Stampendous Team is sharing projects that are "Great for Guys." I decided to work with the fabulous Succulents Stencil that I've had for quite a while. I think plant imagery is great for anyone. I used a bunch of wonderful inks from Imagine. My full supplies list and instructions are below.
Supplies:
Stampendous:
FMS4055: Succulents Stencil
SSCM5003: Friend Wishes
DWLL332: Picasso Stencil/Shield
DCP1006: Fitted Frames Set B
MPW811: Mixed Media Paper

Other:
Imagine:
Memento Ink: Bamboo Leaves, Potter's Clay, Pear Tart
VersaMagic: Tea Leaves, Aspen Mint
Kaleidacolor: Vineyard (the Blue Tone in this set)
Sponge Daubers
My Colors Cardstock: Ocean Side, Sky
Beacon Adhesieves: Zip Dry Glue
Light Green Cardstock- unknown

Directions:
1. Tape the stencil on to Mixed Media Paper. Beginning with the aloe plant (at the top), sponge Pear Tart all over the plant, using the Picasso Shield to cover the Hen & Chicks. Go back over parts of the aloe with Bamboo Leaves ink to give the color more depth.

2. Ink the blue shade from the Vineyard Kaleidacolor to just the center of the Hen & Chicks. Next, use Apsen Mint, slowly working your way out. Finish up with Tea Leaves. I reapplied the colors a couple of times each to get them to blend the way I wanted. The Aspen Mint makes the Hen & Chicks look nice and dusty, like they do in real life.

3. Continuing to use the Picasso Shield, apply Potter's Clay to the pot.

4. Die cut the image using the small "R" Fitted Frame. Die cut the large "R" with Ocean Side cardstock.

5. Create the card base out of a light green and cut to 9 1/2" x 6." Ink the edges with Aspen Mint.

6. Ink a sentiment with Potter's Clay and stamp on to Sky cardstock. Die cut using the small "J" Fitted Frame.

7. Attach all pieces to the card base, crooked, with Zip Dry glue.
I really enjoyed choosing inks that would closely resemble real succulents. I think this is a wonderful stencil to work with because of it's size and composition. And again, I think it's great for guys, as well as anyone else. I hope you'll check back with the Stampendous Team this week as we continue to share projects that are "Great for Guys." Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off ...

Two Huge Valentine’s Day Hops!

I am in not one, but two Valentine’s Day hops! Not bad for someone that doesn’t even like Valentine’s Day… The first is via Smeared & Smudged . It’s time for our monthly Member Blog Hop! The second was started by Taylor Usry . Please bear with me…this post is long because I am sharing 2 projects and the hop lists are huge. Let’s stat with Smeared & Smudged, shall we? My dear friend Alex and I collaborated on the theme for this month’s S&S Member Hop. Instead of making it a free-for –all, we decided to challenge our members a little…create something Valentine’s Day / love themed, but there is a catch.  Because we are Smeared and Smudged you can not use any of the following: No hearts No red or pink Nothing ‘cute’ unless you make it uncute of course :) Ok, so it’s not dark and scary…but it’s definitely not cute either. I used my colored pencils for the focal image.  It’s from Smeared Ink’s Smitten collection. The “pretty fly” is from the teir teen...
