White Rose Crafts February Sketch Challenge

Hello! Today I have something that I haven't done in far too long. A scrapbook page! Oh man, how I miss making these. It's a goal of mine to get more layouts made this year. I was really inspired by the February White Rose Crafts Sketch Challenge, and I am hoping to make each one this year a scrapbook page.

I had this photo from a few years ago. It was springtime, and the beautiful magnolia tree in my neighbor's yard was blooming, so it was a perfect opportunity to get some great shots of my kids. This one was a favorite.
I love the beautiful flowers from the Altair "Ever Dream" Ephemera Sheet, and I fussy cut several of the elements out. They coordinated perfectly with my photo. It's hard to tell, but my daughter's dress is covered in butterflies, so the butterflies on this sheet were just right for this page too.
I took some Turquoise Creative Medium from Imagine and the Circles and Pluses stencil from Studio Light and applied it to my background with a palette knife. It is a subtle background, but when the light hits it just right, it really pops and adds a wonderful graphic quality to an otherwise very "pretty" layout. The Creative Medium adds wonderful dimension too. I decided to also ink the edges of the page with an Ink Blending Tool and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide. I thought that this would really bring your eye on to the layout.
To "ground" my photo, I added a torn strip of navy blue Mulberry Lace Paper. I added to layers of lavender cardstock for my photo mats and sentiment (from Birch Press). I also die cut a Lawn Fawn heart (from the Magic Slider Die Set) as a journaling spot, as well some sequins from the "Vixen" Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground. All of my ephemera, sequins, etc was attached with On Point Glue from Imagine.
I truly enjoyed working from the sketch that was created for this challenge. How would you interpret it?
If you would like to play along, please join us over at the White Rose Crafts Facebook Group! You can add your version of the sketch to our photo album, and see what other WRC friends have created. I look forward to seeing what you come up with! You'll have a chance to win a $15 e-gift certificate to the White Rose Crafts shop! Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
