WRC December Kit: Embellishment Ideas

Hello! I have been playing with the December Kit from White Rose Crafts a lot this month, and I am really enjoying myself! I decided that today I would focus on a couple of the embellishments that come in the kit. I also chose to share 2 cards that feature the same plum-colored color palette.

Both of my cards feature a Topper from ScrapBerry's Elegantly Festive collection. I chose to also use ScrapBerry's coordinating 6" x 6" papers. The deep plum cardstock on both cards are from my personal stash. On this first card, you'll see a lovely lace bow. You actually get several of these in the December Kit! I love the little pearl in the center of the bow. This doesn't add so much dimension that you need to worry about mailing the card. I would probably add a thin piece of cardboard on top, just to protect the pearl, but I think it will mail fine.

I love the soft plum reindeer paper that I used on this card. I find reindeer to be quite elegant, and that was the look I was going for. I simply tore a piece to fit on the corner of my card. I did the same thing with the pale pink snowflake paper on my card below.

For this card, my special embellishment is the sequins from the Very Merry Sparkle Blend. You can only get this mix in the December Kit, so if you collect Sparkle Blends like I do, you'll need to be sure to grab a kit. Instead of making a shaker, or applying the sequins around my ScrapBerry Topper, I decided to make sort of my own sequined patterned paper. I thought this showed off some of the lovely sequins in this Blend nicely, and it really brought out the colors in the Topper. I adhered the sequins with On Point Glue from Imagine.

The cards I have been making from this kit have been coming together very quickly, which is awesome because I seem to be realllly short on time lately. I haven't needed to stamp much or color, and those things (though I love them both very dearly) can be a real time suck. It's been wonderful to bang out a bunch of cards with minimal supplies too. I really encourage you to look into this kit. Preorders are going on now, and I doubt they will last much longer. Please be sure to visit White Rose Crafts to see everything that is included in the December Kit. Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
