Holiday Birds: The Chickadee

Hello! This week, the Stampendous team has been sharing projects that use some of the wonderful stamp and die sets that are available for the holiday season. These sets are great because you get the stamps and dies altogether, in an inexpensive bundle. On Tuesday, I shared a card featuring the cardinal from the Holiday Birds set. Today, I am using the chickadee from the same collection.

I started off by stamping the chickadee with VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne, and coloring the mage with Zig Clean Color Markers. I die cut the image, and moved on to my background.

On a piece of white Mixed Media Paper from Stampendous, I stamped one of the longer sprigs from the Christmas Greenery Perfectly Clear stamp set with the Fresh Greens Kaleidacolor inks and stamped them all over the background. I like using those ink pads because you get multiple colors on your stamps in one quick step. I decided to dull the colors and the white background down a bit, so I swept Desert Sand Memento ink across the entire panel. I did it in a light-handed manner, to create texture with the pad itself.

I tore a piece of red cardstock to give a bit of a ground to the chickadee image, and it worked with the torn bottom of my white cardstock. I decided the card needed a bit of shine and texture, so I applied some VersaMark ink to the bottom of the brown card base, and sprinkled on some Golden Sand embossing powder. I used a fluffy brush to sweep off a bit of the excess powder and to thin out the look of the powder across the top. After heat setting, this powder looks rich and a little rustic.

Like my cardinal card from Tuesday, this one came together quick enough that I would make multiples of it. And for holiday cards, easy-to-replicate is so important! Please be sure to visit the Stampendous Blog to see what the rest of the team has created with the stamp and die combos. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga

Remembering Aletha

Greetings, Friends. This post today is part of a very special blog hop. We are celebrating the life of an amazingly talented artist and friend. The crafting community lost Aletha Jane Williams on May 5, 2019. Those of us that worked with her on Design Teams or on Challenge Blogs all agree that she was one of the sweetest and most talented women we knew. We are not here to mourn her loss though. This hop is happening in conjunction with a very special celebration of her life and her art that her husband Bob is holding in her home city of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Please join us in honoring our incredibly creative friend Aletha . My card features the "Remembering Aletha" Sprite, which Mitzi (owner and artist of Aurora Wings ) created specifically for this hop. She is generously giving the digi away to all, over on her blog. This sweet Sprite looks so much like Aletha, and I know she would have been honored. If you download this digi for yourself, please be sure to give a huge "
