StampInsanity Challenge #6: Box or Frame

Hey everyone! It’s time for another super-cool StampInsanity Challenge! This week, we need to alter or create either a box or a frame. I decided to make a box! An Expolsion Box! When I had my store one of my instructors there taught it all the time. It was a really popular and fun class. But guess what? I had never made one myself before, until now! So take a look-see at my first stab at it!

Hmmm, that’s an simple little box, right? Some cool, stripey paper, a Glimmer Misted top… what’s so cool about that???

Pierette-Box1

BOOM! It explodes!!! It opens up to a full 12x12 sheet where you could add photos, ephemera, journaling, etc. But look who I have popping out! Pierette! Surprise!!!

I stood her up along with one of Beth’s fab sentiments (both are from the Les Coquettes collection- available ONLY at Stamps Happen…click on the link in my sidebar!!!). Her colors were chosen by my clever little boy, once again. He loves helping Mommy with her projects! ;}I thought about adding more to the center, but I thought that there was already a lot going on with all of the crazy patterns I used. Please click on any of the images to see it bigger!

Here’s a close up of the box top. I’m sorry that my photos are a bit dark. I have horrid lighting in my craft room for taking photos. Why don’t Ott lights work well with cameras??? And I didn’t have this done in time before the sun disappeared behind the clouds. I used 3 colors of Glimmer Mist, along with one of Tattered Angel’s fabulous Glimmer Screens.

I secured the sides of the box together with staples. Then I added a few dabs of Stickles for some extra zing.

Now it’s your turn! Go and funk up your own box or frame for a chance to win some ultra cool digis from StampInsanity! Visit the blog for all the deets. And please make sure you check out the rest of the Groovy Gurlz projects! They will rock you!!!

AWESOME!! I've never made one either and this is exactly what I almost made! Isn't that funny??? You did a brilliant job, as usual!!! And guess what? I'm getting better with my glimmer mist. I have been doing flowers lately and I'm discovering that my "problem" is that I just want to use too much of it.

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
