Owl on Oak with Graphic 45

Greetings! The Stampendous team has been sharing projects from the July catalog this week that also showcases some fabulous Graphic 45 papers. I adore this brand, so I was really excited to work with it.

Supplies:
Stampendous:
DWLL3014: Owl on Oak Stencil
DWDMBP: Matte Black Embossing Paste
DWDPK: Palette Knife

Others:
My Colors Cardstock: Grape Vine, Mandarin
Creative Impressions: #93001- Mini Round Brads, #70258- 1/4" Black Glimmer Ribbon
Graphic 45: #4501143- "Charmed, I'm Sure" Patterned Paper
Metallic F/X Powder: Kimono Red, Glacier Lake, Sapphire, Amber Glow, Moonstone, Purple Satin
Imagine Crafts: Delicata Ink in Golden Glitz and Black Shimmer

Directions:
1. Tape the Owl stencil on to smooth black paper. Using the palette knife, spread Matte Black Embossing Paste across the stencil at a 45 degree angle. Remove stencil and wash it. Sprinkle Metallic F/X (colors listed above) by dipping a brush into the jar, and then tapping it over the wet paste, all over the image. Let dry and brush off the excess. Round the upper right and lower left corners. Ink edges with Golden Glitz Delicata ink.

2. To make the card base, cut Grape Vine cardstock to 5 1/2" x 8" ad ink the edges with Golden Glitz Delicata Ink.

3. Make a mat around the stenciled owl in Mandarin. Ink the edges with Black Shimmer Delicata ink. Add a brad to the upper right and lower left corners.

4. Make a mat for the card base using "Charmed, I'm Sure" paper. Glue Black Glimmer ribbon across the lower portion of the card with Zip Dry glue.

5. Glue all layers with Zip Dry.

Some of my other fellow teammates are sharing projects today as well. The links are all listed below. Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Ou la la! I love this, you've employed a nice use of patterned paper and layering, and that owl is to die for! It looks like molding paste and stencil?! Pretty cool. I always have a hard time with spooky Halloweenie cards, even though its my favorite holiday.

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off ...

Two Huge Valentine’s Day Hops!

I am in not one, but two Valentine’s Day hops! Not bad for someone that doesn’t even like Valentine’s Day… The first is via Smeared & Smudged . It’s time for our monthly Member Blog Hop! The second was started by Taylor Usry . Please bear with me…this post is long because I am sharing 2 projects and the hop lists are huge. Let’s stat with Smeared & Smudged, shall we? My dear friend Alex and I collaborated on the theme for this month’s S&S Member Hop. Instead of making it a free-for –all, we decided to challenge our members a little…create something Valentine’s Day / love themed, but there is a catch.  Because we are Smeared and Smudged you can not use any of the following: No hearts No red or pink Nothing ‘cute’ unless you make it uncute of course :) Ok, so it’s not dark and scary…but it’s definitely not cute either. I used my colored pencils for the focal image.  It’s from Smeared Ink’s Smitten collection. The “pretty fly” is from the teir teen...
