21st Century Pillow Book

I have a new Bombshell Stamps card to share with you today. And I have to be honest…I wasn’t sure if I would ever get it done. Yeah, I know…it’s only February 7th…but I was privy to the sketch for quite a while now (one of the many perks to being on the Design Team!), and I just couldn’t do it. This had to be the hardest sketch challenge for me. Ever. Not really sure why…And, I had to change it up a bit since it just wasn’t working! Hope you like it… I really like the colors and the way I colored everything. It’s just the layout that has me thinking it’s a bit wonky… Let me show you the original sketch: My sizes are off a wee bit with my circles…and I changed the lines in the background. Haunted Design House …how I love thee…let me count the ways… Maybe not. That would take waaaay too long! I haven’t been able to play along with the first few challenges of 2011, but I’ve got one today, and I am really happy with it! This week, you need to create something “using angelic products or images and creeping them out as only HDHers can!” My project uses a smattering of different Smeared Ink images. May I say, that is one of the reasons I love Smeared Ink…their images all work so well together! Enjoy… I started off with the Praise Angel, by coloring him in with Twinkle H20’s. Cut him out…then went to town on my background. I was immediately inspired by the Confined Space stamp from Urban Decay…and thought it would work really well with the church from Holy City. Added some crows (holy City…made ‘em grey so that they sorta looked like doves flying up towards the heavens), other textures from Urban Decay…ink…chalk…done! Here’s the sketch: This is the card I made for it, using a digi from the new Smitten Collection. I changed the sketch around a little.   I think this image is hilarious! He is looking at her rump quite admiringly! I colored my image in with my pencils, and put it on a metallic paper that reminded me of wallpaper. I distressed my card with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a cosmetic sponge.  I hand stamped the “nice arse” with a Technique Tuesday alpha set. I tore up the edges with my edge distresser too. I am not a fan of Valentine’s Day. I have no qualms with Cupid…it’s really just about the Hallmark atrocity that has occurred to make February 14th a day that I wear green. Literally. I don’t need the calendar to tell me when I should show my husband my absolute adoration for him…nor does he need an excuse to buy me chocolate! ;) So, I was quite pleased when I saw that the latest StampInsanity challenge was to create a non-traditional card for the dreaded V-Day. “This can be non-valentiney colors, an image that is different than the usual or something completely your own! Just has to be a valentine.” Cool. Deal. I used one of the latest sentiments from StampInsanity, and yes, it is a Valentine’s Day one…but I thought it was fabulous. Seek Your Bliss. The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off ...

Every month, the Bombshell Stamps Design Team has our own private challenge. This month, we had to channel our Inner Bombshell! Fab challenge if you ask me…I’ve always wanted to be a bombshell (in more ways then one!). So, I made a scrapbook page featuring some of the photos my sister Monica took of me with my beloved PT Cruiser. The Bombshell Stamps that I used for this layout are from Pin-Stripes, Man’s Ruin, and Bombshell Angel (the words are from those 2 sets). I thought the Pin-Stripes set worked perfectly with these photos, and I decided to let myself be the bombshell this time around, instead of using an actual bombshell image. The large “a” is from Magnetic Poetry, paper from DCWV and Prism. Rhinestones are from Westrim, and embossing powder is from Stamp-n-Stuff. Plus some Stickles from Ranger, of course!
