Ice Cream for Summer

Hello! I have a fun, summery shaker card featuring three Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground to share with you today. I love ice cream, especially in the summer, and the Lawn Fawn Sweetest Flavor stamps are just perfect for what I wanted to create. I started off by stamping my 3 focal ice cream cones with VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne . Then, I stamped the rest of my cones all over the background with Gray Flannel Memento Ink. I filled in the empty spaces with hearts, and gave all of the background ice cream happy faces. I also added my sentiments with Nocturne ink from the Lawn Fawn Reveal Wheel Sentiments (the original set). Next, I carefully lined up the Sweetest Flavor Reveal Wheel Add-On Die that cuts out the center of the ice cream, on each of my three focal cones. I adhered some acetate to the back, and then foam tape from Brutus Monroe to the entire back of my shaker panel. I decided to go with a patriotic color scheme, because it just added to that summer...

Sweet Stocking

Hello! Today I have a Christmas shaker card to share with you. I know, I know....it's almost the unofficial start of Summer, but I find that I don't always have enough handmade cards to give over the holidays, so why not start now? And shaker cards with Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground are perfect for the holidays. I often like to color images and just keep them together until I feel like putting them on a card, or I have inspiration. I colored this sweet little image named Sami from A Day for Daisies quite some time ago, and just never put it on a project. I knew it was perfect for a shaker. Since I had pre-colored Sami, I chose my Sparkle Blend based on the colors I used on the image. Boughs of Holly was just perfect! This is a traditional Christmas colored Blend, but I really love the various shades of green in it. There is lots of sparkle and shine, plus some stars, holly leaves, and flowers. I backed my shaker window with a small gingham, and cut the...

Succulent Shaker Card

Hello! Thanks for visiting me today. I've got a new shaker card to share that is soft, pretty, and great for different occasions. I chose to make it a "thank you" card, but it would work great for lots of other things.  If you've been stopping by lately, you'll know that I really love Kaisercraft's " Greenhouse " collection. I've been using it quite a bit lately, because it's just beautiful. I started off by choosing a few of the Cardstock Die Cuts  and arranged them on a blank background. I then decided that I wanted to use an oval stitched die from Lawn Fawn's Magic Color Slider Die set (I use the 3 frames in that set all the time ) for my shaker window. Then I chose my coordinating patterned papers. After choosing the papers, I went through my stash of Sparkle Blends to see what I thought would work best. I actually thought I was going to use the newer Springtime Blend, but instead, I felt that Icicle was the right way to go. It ...

Kitchen Renovation Shaker

Hello! Today I have a new shaker card to share, but this one is very special. My husband and I are redoing our kitchen. It's a major job that we are doing ourselves, but we are so excited about it. We ordered cabinets through a home improvement store, and when you do that, you need to actually sit down with a "Kitchen Designer" to get everything ordered correctly. We knew what we were getting, so it was really just a matter of the woman helping us plugging in the dimensions and item numbers. But she was wonderful to work with, and was really helpful with some of the questions I had. I decided to make her a thank you card. But not just any card. And not just any shaker card, either. I decided to create a kitchen that looked pretty close to what ours will look like. Take a look. My staring point was the new Springtime Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground . The colors were pretty close to what I'll be using in my kitchen. And of course, I was very inspired by ...

Hello Spring Shaker

Hello! We're finally really feeling Spring in New York, and I am so happy about it. I'm not a fan of the cold at all, and seeing the flowers begin to pop out of the ground makes me feel so good. The beautiful weather we've been having really inspired my shaker card for today. Also, I've been really loving the rainbow backgrounds that Laura Bassen makes, so she also inspired me. I knew I wanted to make a shaker, so I began to play with different elements. First, I colored these chicks from the Simply Celebrate stamp set from Lawn Fawn, and I fussy cut them. I colored them with Zig Clean Color Markers, and the colors I used helped me to choose what Distress Oxides I would use for my background. These colors also helped me to choose which Sparkle Blend(s) from Doodles Paper Playground that I wanted to use, which turned out to be Easter Basket with a little bit of Springtime . I thought the Petals Background stencil from Stampendous went really well not only with ...

Shrinky Dink Star Earrings

Hello! I have a fun and simple project to share with you today, and I hope it will inspire you to look at your stamps in a new way. I am a jewelry maker through and through. I went to college for it, and I've been making jewelry since I was probably about 4 years old. There is often not enough time for me to make any, and I feel a loss inside when it's been too long. Does that happen to you? Anyway, I decided to "feed the beast" so to speak with this quick pair of earrings that I made for my daughter. The White Rose Crafts DT is focusing on "feminine" projects this month, so that was my starting point. Do you recognize those stars? They are from Lawn Fawn's Simply Celebrate stamp set. I stamped the image on to shrink plastic with StazOn ink and colored them with Sharpie markers. Nothing fancy, each star only uses a single marker color. Then I fussy cut them out (there are coordinating dies , but I don't have them), and punched a hole in the red ...

Same Card, 2 Color Palettes

Hello and welcome back! Today I am sharing 2 cards that have the same composition, but in totally different color palettes. I have been having a great time playing with the Simply Celebrate stamp set from Lawn Fawn and I thought it would be fun to play with different color combinations. When making cards that have the same layout, it's really helpful to use a stamp positioning tool. This way, you can recreate the projects quickly and easily, while taking out a lot of the guesswork. The first version I created used cool tones, which I tend to gravitate towards, so these colors came easily to me. I colored both of the card's stamped images with Zig Clean Color Markers. Coloring those balloons was a lot of fun! For the inked stripes at the bottom of this card, I used ScrapBerry's Blue , Green , and Pink Stains Ink. My base is a deep orchid purple. No extra embellishments used here, as I thought the card made enough of a statement without the extra "stuff." ...

Thanks a Latte

Hello! Today I am sharing a card that I made for my husband. I feel that sometimes we don't thank our spouses enough, so when I received the Thanks A Latte stamp set  and die set  from Lawn Fawn, I knew that I had to use it for him. My husband's favorite color is red, so I needed to use that for the mug. I decided to go with turquoise for the cup, as I love that combination. Behind the die cut mugs, I used an older plaid paper from DCWV. I decided to make my own background with Rich Cocoa and Love Letter Memento ink with the stamps from this set. I tied the hand cut sentiment in with brown cardstock and Super Fine White embossing powder. The card needed a little sparkle, so I broke out the "Star Spangled" Sparkle Blend and added a few coordinating sequins. My husband loved the card. I am really grateful that he appreciates my crafts, and he's always interested on how I make things. This stamp set is a lot of fun to work with, colors up quickly, and I ...

Birthday Bash Blog Hop

Hello! I am excited to be participating in a very special Birthday Bash Blog Hop starting today, Thursday, January 24th, 2019 and ending at 11:59pm EST on Sunday, January 27, 2019! The Designing Divas and I, along with several members of the talented White Rose Crafts design team, will be creating extra special Birthday Themed Shaker Cards for the hop today! Please be sure to read through the bottom of my post for details on a Freebie Sparkle Blend, free shipping, and all of the Hop links. Here's my card. I was inspired by the Tim Holtz " Blueprint Assortment " stamp set. I've had it for a while, but never got around to using it. And I thought this hop, along with the WRC theme was the perfect opportunity . I decided to go with the "Conversation Hearts" Sparkle Blend, because of the wide range of colors in it. Ther...

Star Spangled Shaker

Hello! It's time for a new shaker card, and I used the "Star Spangled" Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground this time. This Blend has white, shades of pink, turquoise, silver, and some touches of red in it. There are lots of different sized sequins, gems, plus big, bold stars! It's a beautiful Blend and this color palette is easy to work with. I have mentioned before that when I make backgrounds with Distress Inks, Oxides, Alcohol Inks, etc, I like to make a lot of them all at once. I can sit for quite a while just making large backgrounds that I can cut down for card panels or die cut into smaller things at a later date. Not only is it fun to just make a bunch at once, but it saves me time when I go back to make finished cards later. Such is the case with this background. I used a few colors of Distress Oxides, applied them to my craft mat, sprayed them with water, and then dunked my cardstock into the wet inks. After it had dried, I used a rectangular st...

The sweet Jackalope from Lawn Fawn's Believe in Yourself stamp set was the perfect jumping off point. I also knew that I w...
