21st Century Pillow Book

Hello! Today I am sharing a card that I made my son for his birthday. He loves shaker cards, so I knew I wanted to go in that direction.  I actually used 4 Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground on this card. One of them is Copper Penny from the new release. And I finally have the Hex Yeah  stamps and dies  from Simon Says Stamp and CZ Designs, that I knew he would think was cool. I made 4 shaker windows using the 2 hexagon dies in the set. I actually kept them attached so that I didn't have to worry about measuring the distance between them. Once I laid out my first set (the top 2), I rotated the hexagons so that the little one would sit in where I just die cut it. This allowed me to cut a larger one with the proper spacing. I repeated this with the larger hexagon to cut the final little guy. Hello! It's time for a brand-spankin' new challenge with Aurora Wings . The theme this time around is "Anything Goes," so there's no excuse to not play along! I decided to work with the delightful Lilac Sprite . I wanted to do something different when I colored the Lilac Sprite. So I opted to give her black hair and a black dress. I think she looks striking. I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens for this. Here's a close up. I loosely fussy cut her out then created my background. I have a nice big lilac bloom stamp from Stampendous , which I stamped on to lavender colored cardstock using Grape Jelly Memento Ink . I wanted to add a little something to the large blooms, so I took out my Fine Tec watercolors and added some shimmery purple watercolor to a few of the blooms. The shine it gave the background was fabulous, but not quite enough, so I also used a green sparkle marker from Spectrum Noir around the edge and for a few of the stems of the lilacs...

Hello! Today I am sharing a new card that features the Spring Fling Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground . In my last few posts, I have mentioned how I can't wait for the last bit of Winter's cold to blow on out of New York, and today is no different. The sequin colors of Spring Fling are so cheery! I decided to also work with the gorgeous Fresh Peony stamp from Stampendous . I started off by applying gold embossing paste to my black card base by using a palette knife and the stencil that accompanies the Fresh Peony stamp set. I didn't smooth out the paste like I usually do, I kept it a little textured. Next, using hte same cardstock I used for my base, I stamped the peony and 2 sets of leaves with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with Detail Gold embossing powder. Then it was time to paint!
