Balancing Time

Hello! This week, the Stampendous team has been sharing projects using some of the new 6" x 6" Cling Stamps . There are quite a few to choose from, and because of that, I decided to use 2 of them on today's project. I was very inspired by the Clock Collage stamp. Balancing time is always an issue, especially when you're a mom, a crafter, have a job, etc. I am sure that many of you are in the same boat that I'm in. I started off by applying a few shades of ink from Imagine.  I used VersaMagic in Turquoise Gem and Grapefruit, plus New Sprout Memento in the tear drop shapes applicators and just swiped the color across my journal. Next, I stamped the Clock Collage. Given that the stamp is a 6" x 6" square, and my journal is a rectangle, I had some holes around the edges that I needed to fill. Since there is already cracking in the Clock Collage stamp, I decided to use the Crackle stamp to fill in the gaps. I'll be using that Crackle stamp a whole l...

Song Bird Art Journal Page

Hello! I'm sure you've been loving all of the n* Studio for Stampendous projects this week, and I have another one to share with you today. But first, take a look at the prizes that can be won. For full details on how to try winning, please visit the Stampendous Blog . Now...on to my project. I decided to have a little fun with art journaling today. I used the Bird Foam Stamp, Cling Stamp and Stencil Set for this page. I started off with my background, applying some yummy Dylusions paint and using the negative pieces of the stencil. Then I used the main part of the stencil to get the teal laid down. Next I used yellow, and added some detail with the pen that comes with Stampendous' Stencil Duos . Then I painted the solid foam side of the bird and stamped it on to my page. Next, I stamped the cling stamp on top with some embossing ink. I then sprinkled some Detail White and heat set it. See the pretty sheen on the bird? It has nice texture too. I wrote "...

Add GLITTER with ADfD!

Hello! It's time for a new challenge with A Day for Daisies ! For the next 2 weeks, we want you to add some GLITTER! I looooove me some glitter, so this was super easy and kind of a no-brainer for me. I used Forest Friends for today's project, which just so happens to be an Art Journal page. I haven't made one of these in about 9 months, and I REALLY need to start making them again. I started off by "coloring" the tree with Vintage Photo Distress Stickles. Then, my son Phoenix and I colored in the leaves of the tree using a shimmery green gel pen. After the tree dried completely I applied some Glossy Accents to the grass and covered it all with Green Micro Glitter from Stampendous . Last, I colored the animals and sky with my Tombow Dual Brush watercolor markers. Now it was time to play with my background. I sprayed it with 4 different mists, by just as many companies. One of them was Wedding Dress irRESISTables by Imagine Crafts, which is nice and thick,...

Doodlie Doo with Dreamweaver and Stampendous!

Hello! Today I have an art journal project to share with you. It's been a long time since I have made one, and the theme with Stampendous! and Dreamweaver this week is perfect for it. Doodlie Doo! I started off with the beautiful Butterfly stencil. I love that this stencil is the shape that it is, without having extra metal around the image. Makes it much easier to play with colors around the image. I used a few of the lovely Radiant Neon inks from Imagine Crafts and some sponge daubers to apply colors around the butterfly. Next, I used Stampendous' Life is Art stamp, that I had inked with black Memnto ink. Then, I used Shimmery Silver Delicata  ink, pad direct to paper. I heat set the inks to keep them from smudging and so that they would be nice and dry for my next step. I put the stencil back on my page, and grabbed my Faber-Castell black PITT pen S. And I started to doodle. Now, I don't usually doodle. I kinda stink at it. I just struggle with it, so this...

"Dream-Pendous" Collaboration!

Greetings! This is going to be such an exciting week for Dreamweaver Stencil s fans and Stampendous Stamps fans alike. It's going to be a "Dream-Pendous" week of inspiration! The Dreamweaver and Stampendous teams are collaborating once again with all the fun toys in each team's arsenals. Of course, as usual, there will be prizes given out for those who comment throughout the week. In fact, there will be 3 prize packs available! Each will have a great selection of Dreamweaver Stencils and Stampedous dies and images. One being the new "Blossom Beauty" face image as shown in the badge in my sidebar. I am beyond excited to share my project with you. I made an art journal page, with a....rather altered...version of the fantastic Blossom Beauty image. Can you tel that I had soooooo much fun with her?!? It was a blast to rework her beautiful face and turn half of her into a sugar skull. The flowers are really what inspired me to do it. They are so big and be...

Day 4 of Kickstart Your Art

Hello! This is going to be one of my shortest posts ever...sorry about that! But I have run out of time today! I'm lucky I even got my Day 4 page finished for Smeared & Smudged's Kickstart Your Art. The prompt today was "Growth." I watercolored the page, and added a couple of crows from Smeared Ink's Holy City, and a sentiment from Bombshell's Growing Hearts set. "Even in death, you can grow a garden." I don't know where that came from....but I just thought of it as I was painting. I hope you like my offering. I promise I will start hopping to you other art journalists!!! Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Kickstart Your Art Day 3: Found Objects & Bombshell Wacky Holiday

Hello there! I have a new Art Journal page for the 3rd prompt in Smeared & Smudged's Kickstart Your Art. The prompt is "Found Objects," and I went with Laura's fab tutorial to make my page. Plus, we are celebrating a Wacky Holiday over at the Bombshell Blog . It's Inspire Your Heart with Art. I have all the details about this cool day on the Bombshell Blog . I should have probably gone with some deeper tones, but I was working only with Glimmer Mists...so they tend to be a bit translucent. I really need to get some of those Dylusions sprays. I used some buttons, paper clips, and a couple of other things all over the page and sprayed the heck out of them. After the page dried, I stamped some pretty flowers from Bombshell Stamps ' 'Till Death set. So as I was looking at the page...thinking about the prompt and wacky holiday, I realized that even the ordinary can be extraordinary. Nothing is mundane....everything can hold even a little bit of mag...

Hump Day Hop, WW, and Kickstart Day 2

Hello and welcome! It's the last Wednesday of the month so it's time for the first Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop of 2014! Also, since it's Wednesday, I have a new Wicked Wednesday ATC to share, PLUS it's Day 2 of Kickstart your Art with Smeared & Smudged. I combined the S&S piece with my Bombshell project. This month's Bombshell Hop theme was Animal Instincts. I wanted the participants to use at least one of the many animals Bombshell has to offer, or one of our animal patterns. There are many sets that could have been used this month! As you can see, I used the animal prints from Bombshell Patterns . Those patterns plus the prompt from Kickstart was my inspiration. The prompt was "Hearts." So I decided to combine the two ideas....love is primal to me. I am deeply in love with my husband, and I totally can feel the animal instincts kicking in with him sometimes. ;) In addition to the Bombshell Patterns set, I also used Madonna Woodcut (th...

Kickstart Your Art Day 1

Hello! I am excited to be a part of Kickstart Your Art with Smeared & Smudged . For the next few days, there will be an art journal prompt that we need to complete within 24 hours. This prompt was to use primary color drips. I decided to work with my kids on this. I dripped my paint, and the kids and I blew the legs for our funny little monsters. We were excited about the next step, so I used a blow dryer to dry the paint a little faster. Then came the doodling! We decided to name our monsters, put some describing words, and wrote out a couple of general things about our monsters. We also each signed the page, since we all worked on it. And here are my happy kidlings with the finished page. They really enjoyed making this with me. Depending on tomorrow's prompt, maybe we will make the Day 2 page together. Looking forward to the next prompt! Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

January Smeared & Smudged Hop

Hiya! Here's something I haven't been able to participate in for quite a while...the Smeared & Smudged Member Blog Hop! It's one of my goals this year to start participating in some of the hops and challenges that I used to love being a part of. Last year, many of those things got away from me. I hope to change that this year. This month, the challenge was "Anything Goes," so I had no excuse not to play along. I received my amazing winnings from the 31 Days of Halloween a few weeks ago, and I wanted to play with some of my new stamps. So I broke out the Occasions Grumpies and decided to use the spa Grumpie. Though it was a tough choice...I love so many of them! I colored my Grumpie with alcohol markers, and my background was done with watercolors. The phrases are handwritten and from the Occasions Grumpies set. I don't know if you have resolutions for 2014, but after relaxing with my family at home for 2 weeks...doing very little of anything besid...

Mermaids with Dilly Beans

Happy Friday! I am so happy that the weekend is almost here. It's been a tough week for me, so I am looking forward to not having to rush around for a couple of days. I have a new Dilly Beans challenge to share with you. This week, the challenge is "Mermaids," and Megan certainly has some wonderful mermaids for you to play with! I made an art journal page about how I would love to one day swim with fish. You see, I have a terrible fear of water. It's really bad. Swimming pools, oceans, lakes.....ugh. I love to watch the ocean....just sit on the beach or take a walk along the shore, but getting in is always a bit traumatic for me. I hope to one day conquer this fear. I used Ahmea Mermaid #558 for my page. I colored her with my Spectrum Noir markers. For my background, I used a stencil from Stencil Girl , and one from Heidi Swapp. I inked them with Distress Inks. I used Crystal Stickles for some glittery goodness, and my journal says, "One day, I hop...

An Undead Scottsman with DICC

Happy May 1st! I have a new Desert Islands Crafters Challenge to share with you. This time, we are sponsored by Rick St. Dennis. Here's the itinerary. 1. Skulls 2. Snakes 3. Roses 4. Gingham/Plaid 5. Emboss it 6. Recycle it 7. Glitter it 8. Black and White + 1 Color 9. Fibers 10. Angels When I first saw this itinerary, I pictured an undead Sctottsman playing bagpipes, that were turning into snakes. I don't know...I guess I was having residual thoughts of the amazing St. Patty's Day parade we went to. LOTS of Irishman in kilts playin' those amazing pipes. So why did I think of a Scottsman? Probably because our very own Suzi is from Scotland! I know...my mind works in strange ways... Anyway. Since Rick is sponsoring this challenge, I decided to ask him if he would draw my odd character. Well, and hour and a half after I sent the request, I got EXACTLY what I had imagined! Actually, he is even better than I imagined! Isn't he AMAZING?! I saw...

A Vampire and a Mermaid

Hello! Today I have two projects to share with you, and they are on opposite ends of the spectrum. First, I'd like to share an art journal page that I have made with 2 of Rick St. Dennis ' newest images. Then, I have a card for the latest A Day for Daisies challenge. I had gotten the the Crow and Nosferatu images, and immediately thought that the crow needed to be on top of Nosferatu's head. Odd perhaps...but, as you probably know already...I like odd. I added a bit of color to Nosferatu, but I really didn't need to do much, as he is just so cool on his own. Both of these images, by the way can be purchased directly from Rick's Blog . And the Crow, actually comes in a very versatile set. Now please take a look at the beautiful black, textured swirls on my page. That was done with Dreamweaver Stencils ' Art Nouveau Background  and their black embossing paste . In addition, I used 2 colors of acrylic paint, Memento ink, cardboard, Diet Cola Memory Mis...
