DICC #14 Plus, a Card for Ryan

It’s time for another installment of the Desert Islands Crafters Challenge! This time around, our Itinerary was created by Suzie McFloozy. If you haven’t played along before, all you need to do is make a project using at least 3 things from the given itinerary. You then have the chance at winning an opportunity to create your own itinerary for us!

In addition to DICC, I wanted to make mention of a very special request, given by my friend Meredith. A dear friend (named Ryan)of her brother was involved in a serious accident, and she is asking we card makers to send Ryan cards to brighten his day. I had intentions of sending the card I am sharing with you today…but I think it may be a bit too girly. So instead, I will be sending a different Bombshell Stamps card…the one I made for the August Sketch. You can see it HERE. Please read all of the details about Ryan and Meredith’s very thoughtful request HERE.

Back to the itinerary! Here it is…

Suzie McFloozy's Itinerary

1 - Dry embossing

2 - Paper piecing (not to be confused with piercing!)

3 - Pearls

4 - Office stationary (paper clips etc)

5 - Kraft card

6 - Ruffles

7 - Stickers

8 - Stitching

9 - Vintage/Old fashioned (could be an image or just style)

10 – Fabric

I used #1, 3, 5, and 9 for my card.

I have a nasty cold, and luckily, I had this version of Bombshell Stamps’ Butterfly Queen already colored up. You can see the dry embossed dots on the purple cardstock. I rubbed some silver paint on top to add to the dimension.

I colored the Butterfly Queen with markers and colored pencils. I used a punch that I have wanted for like, ever and finally got last week. Those sweet stars! I love stars. But that’s a whole ‘nuther story!

But she’s a bit to girly for Ryan, no? I think the other card will be better. Please be sure to check out the rest of what the DICC gals have cooked up for you. Their bloggy’s are listed on my sidebar. Thanks for stopping by. Please drop by Meredith’s blog to consider making a little something for Ryan. Have an inspiring day!

Love the dry embossing & the added bling. What a wonderful card - and not too girly for a guy - she is a pin-up after all.
Gorgeous card Alison, but I agree with you, the card in the link would be better for Ryan :)

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
