21st Century Pillow Book

I’m going to be honest…I was a bit intimidated by this image. It’s stunning, but super intricate. And even though I color every day, this image scared me a wee bit. But now that I have done it once, I truly look forward to coloring it again. What image is it? It’s the High Priestess from Smeared Ink’s Misty Benson Tarot Set 1. Let’s take a look. Seriously, she is totally cool. But uber detailed. It took me quite a while to finish her up, because I really wanted to plan out her colors. And I really like the end result! I only used watercolor markers for this image. No pencils! I know, it’s a shocker! I was really worried about the hair. I wanted to make sure it was just right. And by golly, it’s just how I pictured it should be! Here you can see that I added a lot of glitter. All the white has Stickles, and I used some around the edge of the image as well. It’s time for a Bombshell Stamps challenge! I love Kathi’s sketches! She always comes up with something fabulous. This month is no different. It has lots of layers, and I love layers! And here is my very colorful interpretation! I was a little unsure of my color choices for the roses at first, but they have really “grown” on me! I am pretty happy with the end result. I used watercolor markers for the focal image and the banner. Both images are from the Mi Amor Bombshell set. I inked the edge of the pink cardstock with magenta and purple, and I think it looks really pretty. It added some needed dimension to the cardstock. And can I just say that I adore the Liquid Pearls from Ranger. I only have this one color (platinum) but I seriously need to get some more! See the swirly paper? I am so excited to share my post with you today! As most of you know, Friday is my day to share a Smeared Ink Creation with all of you. I broke out 2 of my favorite sets this week for one card. But in addition to that, I am proud to share with you a new release from Sweet November! I am honored to share Capricorn with you…two very different versions, actually! So, let’s get started! I was thrilled when I heard from I stayed true to the earthy colors of Capricorn. Our colors range from black to grey to brown to green and blue. So I used a little of everything here! I also took notes from Amy’s cards from the week (I hope you have seen them…they are ALL stunning!). She has this lovely way of scattering her rhinestones on her cards…I mimicked that look because I fell in love with it. Isn’t she pretty? I colored her in with my beloved colored pencils. It’s time for another fang-tastic StampInsanity Challenge! This week, we groovy Gurlz are challenging you to see h ow many textures can you incorporate. Have any unique ways to texturize? Here’s my card, featuring one of my fave StampInsanity images (I say that a lot don’t I??? What can I say? They all rawk!), Kassandra. It’s lumpy and bumpy! I textured the heck outta this card. I started off with the big moon. I used a Fiskars Texture Plate that has stars on it. Then I distressed the edges. I pop dotted it on to blue paper that I crumpled up and then sanded down. Here’s a close up of Kassandra. I used my watercolor markers and pencils on her. I love her outfit. I want it. I just wish the bod still looked like hers! ;) As you can see, I added to the texture challenge by tying some fibers through eyelets, and adding a few dots of Liquid Pearls. I love playing along with the Kenny K Krafty Girlz whenever I can. Not just because their challenges are fun, but because I just LOVE coloring in those Kenny K images! This week, there is a sketch challenge. I used Lady Raven for my project. Here’s my version…which I altered a bit from the original. Because I like to use a lot of pattern and texture, I thought the original sketch would be too busy if I stuck to it. I think my simplified version came out cool! What do you think of Lady Raven in these bright and cheery colors? I think she looks fabulous! She can rock out in black and red of course, But I really like her in these colors too! She was colored with my EK Success Watercolor Markers.
