StampInsanity #14: Betcha Bottom Dollar!

It’s time for a sketch challenge with the Groovy Gurlz of StampInsanity !!! The sketch is based on the good ‘ol Benjamin. Have a look-see! Check out that loooong rectangle! Perfect for throwin’ a fat check inside right??? I realized that I don’t use Beth’s fabulous sentiments enough, so I figured this was the perfect card to use one! Originally, I was going to use one of her fabulous characters…but I loved using the sentiment in the middle instead! Isn’t it beautiful? The phrase, the different fonts… I just love this sentiment! I printed it on white cardstock and then sprayed it with Patina and Lily Pad Glimmer Mist. See the bit of sparkle? You can click on any of my photos to see them bigger. I used papers from Prism, Basic Grey, and K & Co. I used the paper with the circles, to mimic the rest of the circles in the design. The floral paper was used because I loved hot the colors worked with the other papers. It’s not your typical romantic card. It’s sweet and happy and fun. A...

Scivvies

There comes a point in a child’s life when they can finally rip off the bulky, hot diapers and don a nice pair of cotton scivvies. That time has come for my Phoenix. We are (hopefully) nearing the end of potty training, and he is proud to say that he owns some pretty rad underwear. So, being the scrappin’ mom that I am, I had to make a page about it! It is exactly as I envisioned it… which doesn’t always happen! My background paper is from Adorn It! and I used Prism for my plain cardstock. Cut out the letters with my Diesel QuicKutz font and added some American Crafts ribbon, EK Success stars, and of course, some staples. I just loved seeing all those little pairs of underwear hanging out on the laundry line… His heiny is so tiny! And he loves all of the characters he gets to wear…even though he doesn’t know who half of them are! I showed him this page this morning. And he just giggled. He told me it was “cool.” Ain’t he sweet? I wonder if he’ll still think that in 10 years…??? Hav...

The Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #6: Sweeny Todd & S&S GDT Challenge: Watercolor

Finally! 6 challenges later and I finally have a moment to play with the fabulous Burtonesque Dolls ! For this challenge (inspired by Sweeny Todd), you need to use those distressing tools! Perfect for me because I tend to distress everything!!! So. Johnny Depp is in Sweeny Todd. He is also in Pirates of the Caribbean. Hence, the inspiration for this card.  Here’s one of my latest Sweet Pea images, given to me by my lovely friend Danielle. I colored the image in with my beloved Twinkle H20’s and a bit of my colored pencils. Because I used watercolors, I am entering this card also in the Smeared and Smudged Guest DT Watercolor challenge (great challenge, Jennifer!). Here’s a close up. I love how this turned out. The blending is exactly how I wanted it, and the colors are perfect for the look I was going for. Please click on any of the images to see them bigger. Here’s a closer look at some of my distressing: I used my Heidi Swapp edge distresser along with sandpaper...

Artful INKables Twilight Challenge, Week 2

Hello! I only have time for a really quick post today! I of course, had to play along with Week 2 of the Artful INKables Twilight Challenge. This week we needed to use the colors red, black and white, along with their stamps. Easy peasy! I sprayed the heck out of my card with Black Gold, Candy Apple Red, and Silver Glimmer Mist, using a Glimmer Screen. I love how it turned out. Looks better in person, when you can see all the glimmer though! Added the AI “Peace, Love, Vampires” stamp, inked, distressed, and pop dotted. A few black pearls, and voila! I love this stamp. It’s a great sentiment! Can you see the gold glimmer in the big black splotch in the middle? Beautiful! Have an inspiring day!!!

Crows and Cathedral

Hello again! I bring you today a card featuring the Holy City stamps from Smeared Ink . I have said it before, but I’ll say it again… I love this set! It is so unique and beautiful! But let’s just get to the card! I used 2 images here, the crow (repeated several times) and the stunning cathedral. I stamped the cathedral first on a grey patterned paper. Tore around it and inked it in blue. I had this pre-distressed blue cardstock from Basic Grey, which I thought worked perfectly with the look I was going for. Tore the bottom of that. I added both elements to a textured grey cardstock from Prism, and I inked that with black (I love the texture on it!). Last, I stamped all of the crows on, turning them slightly so that they didn’t look exactly the same. I didn’t want a whole lot of fluff, so I kept it very simple. I think that all of the textures and faint patterns added enough to the card without making it fussy. It’s just tranquil and lovely. And, just a little eerie! Thanks for visit...

StampInsanity Challenge #13 A Recipe

It’s time for Lucky 13! This week, the Groovy Gurlz and YOU are challenged by StampInsanity to make a card using the following recipe: you must use: - Black Cardstock, - Pearls, - and a Skull shape, design, or whatever you can find! Totally simple for me! I have to say, I loved this challenge! I had my card made days ago! Which is really good for me!!! I might even need to play along again… ;} I don’t usually use so much in the citrusy tones, but I was really in the mood for it when I made this card. Here’s a closeup of my coloring, and the lovely Nicholette. I used my EX Success watercolor markers this time around. And just a couple Sakura markers too. You can click on nay of my pics to see them bigger. How cool is this skull? I got it from my Mom’s stash of stuff that she got at work (JoAnns). Sometimes she comes home with some awesome finds! This was one of them! I know, I know… you’re probably all shocked that I used only ONE skull on this card… I just didn’t want to overdo it....
