21st Century Pillow Book

Hello! Today and occasionally going forward I will have a special guest designer (or two!) on my blog. My daughter Rhiannon is now a Designing Mini Diva for Doodles Paper Playground , and she is beyond thrilled. Rhiannon is 10, and if you've been a follower of mine, you'll know that I love to craft with my kids. Rhiannon has become quite the talented artist, and Amber asked her to join our Design Team to help encourage kids to get crafty. So, here is her very first post, written by her (and overseen by me). Hello! Today I have a 6" x 6" mini page that I am sharing for the latest Aurora Wings challenge, which is "Over the Rainbow." I was very inspired by the beautiful Unicorn Sprite . I colored her with Zig Clean Color Markers, and I really took my time with her. I love how she turned out. I knew I didn't want to put her on a card, so I decided to make a page for a 6" x 6"  album that I am making that is dedicated to the Sprites from Aurora Wings. I decided to create an altered rainbow using Distress Oxides in Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, and Dusty Concord. I splattered the inked background with Sheer Shimmer Spritz in Sparkle from Imagine. I chose a Laurel Burch (" Celebrate Dreams ") sentiment from Stampendous and stamped it with VersaFine Clair ink in Fantasia . Hello and welcome to the November Get Kids Crafty Blog Hop! This month, our theme is Christmas. When I mentioned the theme to my daughter, she knew what she wanted to make right away. Rhiannon loves everything unicorn. She's like her Mom! We found this unicorn stamp with coordinating die at Michaels from their Recollections brand. She thought this would be the perfect focal for a magical Christmas card. She colored her unicorn with Memento markers from Imagine and a gold metallic marker from Spectrum Noir. She die cut the unicorn, then a couple of Fitted Frames from Stampendous to use as mats. To add more sparkle and magic, Rhiannon added some sequins from Doodles Paper Playground. She used the Bells are Ringing and Boughs of Holly Sparkle Blends. And since you can never have too much sparkle, she also added some Stickles to the mane, and around the unicorn. Hello! This is my second post for today. My first post is for the Stampendous 31 Days of Halloween. You can check it out HERE . But first, please take a look at this project for the October Sparkle Blends Release Hop. I was very inspired by the Boughs of Holly Sparkle Blend. It's got beautiful shades of red and green, big holly leaves, glitter sequins, and confetti. It's got a magical feel and I knew I wanted to make a card to reflect that. I decided to color up the Unicorn Christmas stamp from Stampendous . I colored the unicorn with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and decided that the ornaments on the wreath would be the perfect place for additional sequins. After I fussy cut the unicorn, I attached 3 styles of sequins from the Boughs of Holly Sparkle Blend with On Point Glue from Imagine. I think they look perfect on the wreath. For the shaker area of my card, I sprayed my Houndstooth Stencil with Dylusions Ink Spray in Cut Grass  and placed it face down ...

Greetings! Today I am sharing a card that uses one of the newest Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground . It's called " Majestic ," and if you love shades of pink, gold and unicorns, then you've got to get this Blend! The Sparkle Blends helped me to choose my color palette for the rest of the card. I used the Unicorn Rose stamp from Stampendous, and I colored her in with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I also added some gold Stickles to her mane for added sparkle. My top layer was created with watercolor paper. I applied Delicata Re-inkers from Imagine in Golden Glitz and Pink Shimmer directly on to my brayer, and then I spritzed the brayer with Ink Potion No. 9. Then, I just rolled it on to my watercolor paper. I did add a few more spritzes of Ink Potion No. 9 directly to the paper as well. After the ink was dry, I used the Moroccan Mesh stencil with Rose Bud Memento ink and a sponge dauber, and inked a few areas on the paper. I didn't wan...

Greetings, crafty folks! I've got a shaker card to share with you today that features the Unicorn Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground . I went very clean and simple with my last shaker, so I decided to go a totally different route with this one. I have this really old stamp from Judi Kins of this funky lava lamp. It's just begging to be turned into a shaker, don't you think? So I pulled out my stash of Distress Oxide backgrounds to see if there was anything I liked for this stamp and I came across this brightly colored, very watery-looking piece. It has a lot of movement and the colors worked perfectly with the Unicorn Sparkle Blend, so that's what I decided to go with. I stamped the lamp with VersaFine Claire ink on to the background and cut ut the center with an X-Acto Knife.   I built my shaker quickly with foam tape and added the Sparkle Blend. Helloooooo!!! It's Day 10 of the 31 Days of Halloween. Today I used a very unique image that I have really fallen in love with. It's the Gothic Unicorn from GothArte Tenebris. I'll be honest, this was an intimidating image to color, but man was it worth every second! I really took my time with it, and I am so happy with the end result. I colored the Gothic Unicorn with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I also broke out my water brush from time to time. When I was finished coloring it, I fussy cut it out, but leaving a bit of a border. Then I looked for some coordinating papers to complete the card. I really wanted some shine, so I found that fabulous metallic copper cardstock and paired it with some paper from DCWV. I felt I needed some more color, so I used some deep blue cardstock and sprayed it with Sheer Shimmer Spritz from Imagine, in Gold. You can see the shine in the photo above. Hello! Today I have a card that was so much fun to make! And even more fun to play with! But shhhh!!!! Don't tell my daughter! I made it for her first day of school. I used lots of Lawn Fawn to make the card, and I think she's going to love it. *This post contains affiliate links, at no cost to you. So this card doesn't look too fancy, right? Unless of course you know just how magical Magic Color Slider Cards can be! This is what you see when you pull up the little tab at the top of the card. Magically, the image is colored! I'm telling you, I am having a blast making these. You of course need the Magic Color Slider Die, and then you can use any stamps you want. The die set is so clever, and gives you several different fun options to help you customize your slider. I went with the Unicorn from the Critters Ever After Set.
