The Red

Hello! I've got a shaker card to share with you today that has a brand-spankin' new Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground in it. I am featuring "Ruby" which is part of the Birthstone Collection. July babies rejoice! Your Sparkle Blend has arrived! This card was inspired by a few things. Of course, the Ruby Blend started the process. I also recently watched one of Mary Polanco's latest YouTube videos, where she admits to being stuck in a crafty rut, but she pushed through and made some spectacular cards. Her cards featured the May My Monthly Hero Kit from Hero Arts . I have that kit, and I was really loving her all green card. You can check out Mary's YouTube Video HERE , and the corresponding blog post HERE . She has a ton of wonderful ideas. Also, if I am being totally honest, "The Red" from Chevelle was also an inspiration here. I love that band, and that song, so as soon as I saw this Blend, my mind immediately went there. I started off ...

Poolside Party

Hello and Happy May! I'm kicking off the month with a new shaker card that uses an older (but still available) Sparkle Blend. I had these images from the Floaties stamp set from Stampendous colored and cut, they just needed to be put on a card. My daughter and I decided to make the card together, and she chose to use Ocean View . It was the perfect Sparkle Blend to represent water in a pool. As we started to make the card, we thought it would be fun to complete it while we did a Facebook Live. So if you'd like to see the process, please click HERE . Those Floaties crack me up! We chose a piece of patterned paper from Echo Park's Coffee paper pad. We thought it was perfect for our "pool." Our circular window was cut with a die from Elizabeth Crafts Designs. The Ocean View Sparkle Blend has some wonderful shades of blue in it. And if you look really close to the Blend, you'll see tiny dolphins floating around in there. Our sentiments are from the Floaties ...

Make a Path

Hello! Today, I have a new shaker card to share with you. I was really inspired by one of the newest stamp sets from Beth Duff Designs , and I hadn't had a chance to play with it until now. The set is called Faith Can Move Mountains. Unfortunately, the company is going out of business so if have been interested in any of their stamp sets, this is the only opportunity you'll have to shop. I knew when I started this card that I was going to make a shaker, and I let the card happen organically. This helped me to decide which Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground I was going to use. I chose But First, Coffee . Gingerbread Man would have worked too, but I opted to steer away from the glitter sequins found in Gingerbread Man, simply because of the overall look of this card. I started off with Kraft cardstock and I embossed the mountain scene with Champagne PearLustre embossing powder from Stampendous. I used a Posca Pen to add some snow to the mountains, and I inked the e...

Owl Hugs for my Son

Greetings! Earlier in the month, I shared THIS card that I made with the Unicorn Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground and 2 of the Give a Hoot stamps from Elizabeth Crafts. Today, I am sharing a card I made from my son using the same stamp set, but for the shaker I used a combination of Sparkle Blends. I adore the sweetness of these owl stamps, and I knew my son would love a card with them just as much as my daughter. I had previously colored the "Momma" owl, so that helped me choose the directions for the baby and the rest of the card. After I colored the owls, I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. Next I chose a couple of fun patterned papers from DCWV, and I cut a window in one of them using Elizabeth Craft Designs' Stitched Rectangles. Then I moved on to choosing the Sparkle Blends for the card. It turned out that there wasn't one that was quite right for the card, so I decided to create my own! That's the beauty of playing with S...

Owl Hugs for my Daughter

Hello! Today I have a new shaker card to share with you. I made this card for my daughter for her first day of school. I recently purchased the Give a Hoot stamp set from Elizabeth Craft Designs , and I knew using them would be perfect as she loves owls so much. I colored them in some of our favorite colors and used the  coordinating die s to cut them out. To stamp them, I used VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne, and to color the images, I used Zig Clean Color Markers. My daughter loves vivid colors so I knew that I needed to use the gorgeous Unicorn Sparkle Blend on this card. It has so many stunning colors (including opalescent sequins), and it is truly our favorite of all the Blends. In the photo below, you can see the wide range of sizes and colors in this unique Blend.  My daughter and I also really like to mix patterns, and I enjoy adding a fun pattern behind my shaker, for when the sequins and other bits fall to the bottom. So I chose a fun floral ...

Aurora Wings Challenge #70: Sketch

Hello! Today I am sharing a card for the latest Aurora Wings Challenge which is to use the sketch provided by Mitzi (see below). I opted to once again use an adorable Sprite for my project, and this time it is the Cherry Sprite. You can find her HERE on the Aurora Wings site, and HERE on Etsy. Here is the sketch... And here is my take on the sketch. I started off by coloring my Sprite, as I always do. The colors I use then help me choose my papers. I decided to use my new dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs to create my circles.  I simply cut the same circle twice, out of two papers, and inlaid the polka dot paper into the green, so it's flat. The hardest part for me on this card was arranging my sequins, which was a combination of Sparkle Blends from  Doodles Paper Playground , and a few (the glittery gold ones) that I had gotten from Ink Road Stamps. For my sentiment, I used a lovely " smile " from  Honey Bee Stamps . It's been a while since I've d...
