SBS Teen Scene Kitchen Fun! Preview Day 1

Hello and welcome back to my little spot in Bloggyland. I was on a bit of a hiatus for the last week, trying to catch up on some projects, and enjoying lots of precious family time. But, this week will make up for my last one for sure! I have things to share with you each day this week, and I think you are going to seriously need want these images I’m working with! Today is the 1st Preview Day for the last new Simply Betty Stamps release for 2011. Don’t let that scare you though…there are SO many new lines that will be coming out in 2012 starting in January.

This release is called Teen Scene Kitchen Fun. Let it be known that I am not a fan of cooking. It’s really a chore for me. Though I do enjoy baking. But these images make me want to be in my kitchen, trying new recipes, so I can make a recipe book! Or scrapbook pages! So without any further delay, here is Baking Betty.

She’s so cheery! I used super bold colors for Betty, and I think she looks pretty rad. My husband said she looked like me, which I thought was very sweet.

I used my watercolor markers for this image, and I took a lot of time with it. I really wanted the highlights and shadows to be just right. And check out her cake batter…it’s Party Cake! I made sure to put in the colored sprinkles!

Here you can see that I added a bit of sparkle to Betty’s outfit. Her headband, her apron’s ribbon, and her buttons were all colored with my Sakura Stardust pen.

The circular stamp is from a Just Rite baking set that I have. Don’t you just love her? Won’t she be great for the holidays, for Birthdays, recipe cards…and…and….well, you get the idea! I’m sure you’ll come up with some awesome uses for this whole collection! Be sure to stop by tomorrow for some more Kitchen Fun! And, please head over to the SBS Blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has “cooked up” for you! By the way, today is the last day to sign up for this month’s Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving…and for my overseas friends, I hope you had a great week! Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
