Yo! I’ve Got Some News!

Did my title grab your attention? It’s actually a twofer. “Yo!” is the name of my card…and I really do have some news…some really cool news! And Goddess knows I need that! Let’s start with the news!!!

1. I one of the Gruesome Twosome for Macabre Monday #59…Dastardly Delicious Doodles!!!

2. Not only was I one of the Gruesome Twosome…but…drum roll please…I am now the October 2010 Master of the Macabre!!! Have you any idea how stoked I am?!? This is a very coveted award for me. I have hoped for it for many moons…and I can now proudly display my Master of the Macabre Badge for all the world to see! Just look!!! ------------------------------------------------------->  It’s on my sidebar!!! Thanks, Barb!!!

3. Have you noticed another new badge that I am proudly displaying??? I have been published! Yes! I have been published FOUR times in the latest issue of Scrapbook News and Review! FOUR! Four layouts! I can hardly believe it myself!

4. I won some fabulous Blog Candy from Ever After Paper Crafts!!! I won four gorgeous Sweet Pea Stamps…and you all know I can’t get enough of those!!! Thank you, Christine!

Great stuff huh??? I definitely have some folks smiling down on me! :} Now for my card!

Yo!-1

My focal image is this month’s freebie from Kenny K. Isn’t she cute??? Go and nab her for yourself! All of the phrases are from Smeared Ink’s Teen Style Sayings collection. I was inspired by the bricks she was sitting on… so I embossed some bricks using a Fiskars Texture Plate. Then I inked it a bit with Frost White so that the embossing shows.

Yo!-3

I stamped the 2 background phrases using fairly bright colors…but they got a bit lost on the dark background. So, I heat embossed them. But I still wasn’t happy with how the “rad” didn’t show too much, so I went over it a bit with a Glaze Pen.

Yo!-4

It looks way better now. And I think the wall came out pretty cool! Here’s a close up of my Kenny K chick.

Yo!-2

And look! I made her a blonde! No wacky colors in her hair!!! Of course the rest of her practically glows in the dark, but I think she’s adorable.

That’s all for now. Have an inspiring day!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
