Winter Mistletoe

I am not one of those folks that like to rush into the Holiday Season. I like to take it slow…enjoy the view…relish in the changes. But this year…I’m kinda needin’ a little bit of Holiday. I “need a little Christmas.” So, this card brought me a bit of joy.

Kenny K’s latest challenge is Sparkle and Spots. I had colored up a few images last week that had not yet made it to a project, but when I saw this challenge, I knew exactly which Kenny K girl I wanted to use. This is Mistletoe. But a very Wintry version of her.

Winter-Msitletoe-1

I love her. I knew I liked her when I first saw her…but as I started to color her in, I quickly grew to love her. Yeah, she’s got some pretty sassy clothes on…but she also has the sweetest face. She looks like such a snow bunny here, no?

Winter-Msitletoe-2

Here’s a close up. You can click on any of my images to see it bigger. The majority of her was colored in with my water color markers. Her skin was done with colored pencils. I also used my Sakura Star Dust pen in Clear Star (love that pen!!!), to add a magical feel.

Winter-Msitletoe-3

Here you can see some of the shine. My background was made using Patina and Rum Raisin Glimmer Mist, along with a snowflake Glimmer Screen…all from Tattered Angels. So it’s really sparkly in person!

Winter-Msitletoe-4

I used the Star Dust pen around the edge of my card and even on my flowers! I incorporated the “spots” part of the challenge in one of the flowers and my ribbon.

Winter-Msitletoe-5

See how shimmery her eyes are? Her mistletoe too! She was just wonderful to color her in…I look forward to creating other incarnations of her.

Echo Park Blog Hop with Imagine

Greetings! This is my second post for the day. This one is not part of the 31 Days of Halloween, but rather a super-duper blog hop that the Artists in Residence for Imagine are doing with Echo Park . So if you're here for my Day 7 project, please check out the post HERE . But before you do that, scroll on to check out this one. There are prizes up for grabs, so be sure to check out the Imagine Blog as well as the Echo Park Blogs for details. I created my background by applying Dandelion and Tangelo Memento Ink to my brayer. Then I sprayed it with Ink Potion No. 9 to help the colors blend and to act as an extender to keep the inks wet longer. After I rolled the colors out on to watercolor paper and let it dry, I stamped the lovely doily-like image from Echo Park's Simply Sweet Stamp Set with Grape Jelly Memento. I also received the super pretty Heart Doily Designer Die  which I used with a true purple cardstock. But it needed something....and in rolls the super fabul...
