21st Century Pillow Book

How’d ya like my title??? Let me start off by saying, I had NO idea how to correctly photograph this project. And it’s a shame…because it’s pretty damn cool. My sis who’s a photography pro wasn’t around to aid me in this…so I’m gonna try and snag her to retake these dreadful photos. Now that that’s out of the way…I started to play with my Nymphs stamp set from Smeared Ink . And I cam up with what I thought was a fabulous (and funny!) idea. You can let me know what you think… So I painted this little box. I used some branches from the Tree Nymph and a few dabs of Distress Stickles in Peeled Paint…you’ll see a detail shot in a minute. But wait? What’s that blotch on top of the glass??? Why, it’s the dress the Tree Nymph is wearing! And look…there she is down at the bottom of the box! Hello down there!!! I guess she’s feeling a little self conscious…wait a second…maybe not… Gasp! She’s taking off her dress!!! The glass panel in the box slides out so you can put your treasures inside.

Hello! I am so happy to be sharing this week’s StampInsanity Challenge with you, for several reasons. First, we have an amazing new release. Second, this release is important. Third, it’s a fun collaboration with Fussie & Fancy. Fourth, and most importantly… it hit very close to home this week. Like, four houses away. More on that in a bit. Greetings! It’s time for another Bombshell Stamps hop, which sadly means that I am coming to the end of my month-long term as a Guest Designer. It makes me sad… But have no fear! I will of course continue to play along with the other challenges, and I’ll have some of my own ideas too! ;} You should be coming from my lovely friend, Meredith ’s blog. This is what Kas challenged us to do this time around: She's a Firecracker Alright! I would love to see something along the lines of: 1) Red - White - Blue 2) Firecrackers (Bombshells) 3) Military 4) or sparkling like a firework! Here is the third of four beautiful Goddesses from the Smeared Ink Collection. It’s time to take a deep breath of fresh air… Isn’t she serene looking? I just want to stare at her and breathe… I colored her in with my colored pencils and Twinkle H20’s. The Twinkles were used only on her hair… I used a silver and a pale blue, to mimic the swirls already on the stamp. I added a simple line of Waterfall Stickles (one of my faves!) to the bottom of my torn edge, just to give it a little more pop. I used some scrap paper to mat the image, and that was all. It’s another one of those images that you want to let speak for itself. And I think she does! Have a peaceful and inspiring day!

It’s time for a sketch challenge with the Groovy Gurlz of StampInsanity ! But instead of a card…I made a tag! I used the oh-so-handsome Roder as my subject this week. He’s just so rockin’! And of course, I broke out my colored pencils! I also used my Coluzzle for the circles and rectangle. I know! I just love using my older tools! I hate letting them just sit in a drawer unused. And how about that yarn??? Isn’t it fabulous? I’ll never learn how to knit a sweater, but I will always find something to do with all of those wonderful skeins of yarn that I have! I have a card to share with you that I am entering into 3 challenges. That’s a lot for me! First, The Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #11, which is to create in Black and White…Ed Wood style! The second is for the Simply Betty Sketch. Yup, I just did a card for that last week (when Miss Rio was green), but you’re allowed to enter more than once, so I figured, why not? The third is for Macabre Monday over at Haunted Design House . It’s a free for all from Barb this week. And while this card isn’t as creepy as some of the other things that I make, it is a little spooky! I have to say, I loved coloring Rio in black and white! I really like how her hair came out and the gradation of grays I used in her skirt. Here’s a close up. She’s boo-tiful, no? I made this layout using my fantastic Pirate’s Life set from Bombshell Stamps . The photos are from 2005 and were taken on my most favorite Halloween EVER! And that is saying a lot for a Halloween freak like me! I used 4 images from my Bombshell set. Can you spot them all??? Of course, there’s the fabulous Bombshell herself… done up with my colored pencils. Then, her fabulous companion…this crazy cool parrot. He’s also brought to life with colored pencils. Then there’s that cute little map on the envelope I made. But where is the 4th stamp??? Hint…go back to the first picture! See them??? The little skull and crossbones on the closure of the envelope? That’s the 4th stamp! A lot of times I find that people don’t utilize the wonderful tiny images that come with many of the sets. So I wanted to make sure that I put a couple of them in this page!
