Gettin’ Punky With It…

I am participating in my very first Club Anya and Friends Challenge! There was just NO WAY I could pass this one up! It’s all about “Gettin’ Punky!” No, not Punky Brewster. Like real punk. Think CBGB, Rancid, London, Anarchy…get the picture? Check out my rockin’ card!

I really love how this turned out. I worked my tail off on this one, and it turned out just how I wanted. I lamented over the paper for so long…ask my husband (who by the way, was totally helpful! Thanks, Babe!). I colored in Miss Ebony fairly quickly… but the paper…oh the paper! It was tough. I knew what I wanted (kind of) but couldn’t find it. Then, it all came together!

Now, it was suggested we add metal embellishments. Perfect! I knew I needed to do that anyway. I added jump rings to my eyelets, and take a close look at Ebony to see where I added them to her!

Please click on the pics for a better look. It’s tough to see what I did with a small photo. I gave her earrings! I really wanted to give her like, 4 or 5 up one side… but her ears don’t show! So that was out. But I LOVE how she looks with those cool silver hoops! I also gave her a teeny bit of glitz on her eyes. Not too much though… punks are so NOT about the glitter!

You can see I threw on a couple of staples, and of course I just HAD to put the Anarchy symbol on here as well! I thought about distressing the card a bit, but I decided that was no the “punk way”. We’re not doin’ grunge here!

You can see here that I cut one of the skulls out of this sick Basic Grey paper (BG! I know! It’s crazy!), and pop dotted it. With the other skull, I cut around the top of it so that I could place my skull and crossbones paper (Rusty Pickle) under it. I didn’t want to lose them under the other paper… they just had to show! They were one of the reasons I chose this paper, so that’s how I remedied that problem.

So, what do YOU think? Is it punk enough? What do you think of Ebony’s hair? I love it, and I’m thinkin’ I just may need to put green in my hair again! It has been such a looong time! And this blonde I am currently sportin’ (since the teal has rinsed away) needs to GO! But I digress… enjoy the card, and have an inspiring day!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
