Friends Having Fun Color Challenge #1!

Hello, hello! I am so excited! I am bringing you the the very first Friends Having Fun Challenge today! The first Monday of every month, I will give a Color Challenge! Here’s what I wrote on the FHF board:

Hello Everyone! I (Alison) am SO excited to be bringing you the very first Friends Having Fun Challenge! How lucky am I??? The first Monday of every month, the Kaleidoscope Krew and I will be bringing you a Color Challenge. Your mission is to then create a project using those colors! Anything goes! Make a card, scrapbook page, jewelry, altered item...anything you want! Just try to use colors as close to the ones I give you to work with! Wanna see the first set of colors???

And here is what I created:

I have had this card done for weeks now. When I first chose these colors, I was instantly inspired and knew exactly what I wanted to do. And since that doesn’t happen too often, I jumped on the project! I knew I wanted something vintage, hence this adorable image. I unfortunately cannot remember where I got this image though… if I figure it out, I will add it into this post! Then I knew I wanted to use something Anna Griffin style (which isn’t something I really ever do!). My mom happened to have Anna Griffin stamps that were exactly what I was looking for! Loved ‘em so much I used the same stamp on the inside and outside of the card!

Here’s a peek at the inside:

This stamp is from Verve, given to me by my wonderful friend, Tonya! The punch I used is from EK Success.

Here’s a close-up of those sweet little girls:

They are of course colored with my Spectracolor pencils. I just think this image is darling! I know! Totally not something I would usually do or say right? Well, I like to be multi-faceted!

I pop-dotted the heck out of this card! And I love the finished card. Just love it. This may very well be one of my favorites I’ve made in a long time! I just love the colors, the sweetness, and the vintage quality to it.

Now please go and see what the rest of the Kaleidoscope Krew has created! They are so talented, and super inspiring!

How beautiful this is! To be able to master so many different styles is a gift, and you definitely have that gift! I am just like that with the pop-dots -- I use them A LOT too. You selected such great colors for this challenge -- it's going to be so fun going forward!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
