Bunny Splash!

Greetings! I have a card to share with you today that features Bunny Splash! and a couple of wonderful Dreamweaver Stencils.

Supplies:

Stampendous:
Q220 Bunny Splash
SSH34 Medium Perfectly Clear™ Acrylic Handle
DWNHB12 1/2″ Brush #12
MPW811 Mixed Media Paper
MEM01 Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink by Tsukineko®
Dreamweaver:
DWLJ908 Umbrella Background Stencil
DWLJ905 Rain Stencil
Plus:
Cardstock by Bazzill Basics Paper®
Chameleon™ Markers (RD4, GR3, BL3, CG8, PK3)
Labels 4 Dies by Spellbinder™ Paper Arts
Acrylic Paint by DecoArt®
Ribbon by May ArtsZip Dry™ Paper Glue by Beacon Adhesives

Instructions:
  1. The image was stamped on to Mixed Media Paper using Memento Ink. One of the Labels 4 die was used to cut the image out. It was then inked around the edges with turquoise ink.
  2. Die cut the next size up of the Labels 4 die in red.
  3. Temporarily mount the Umbrella Background stencil on to Mixed Media paper. Load your stencil brush with yellow acrylic paint, then rub most of it out on to a paper towel. This will allow you to do a dry brush technique on your paper, and will prevent the paint from seeping under the stencil. It is really important to remove most of the paint from the brush. You can always layer more, but you can’t remove what you’ve put down. When you are happy with the yellow layer, apply some green to only some areas using the same dry brush technique. Once the paint has dried, round the corners.
  4. Create your card base using a dark green cardstock. Cut to 6 1/2″ x 10″ and fold in half.
  5. Cut a mat out of turquoise cardstock. Use dark turquoise paint to apply the Rain Stencil in a similar manner as you did the Umbrella Background.
  6. Glue all layers and add a small piece of chevron ribbon.

So sweet! This adorable card reminds me of a fun day with my granddaughter a few weeks ago. We have puddles in our driveway that rival most ponds when it rains and Jenna always wants to jump in them. One day I had her wear her rubber boots when we went to get mail and on the way back up the driveway I walked right through a puddle. She looked at me like I was crazy but when I told her SHE could also walk through the puddle her face lit up so bright that I needed sunglasses! She still talks about it! So glad I made the time to create this memory for her!
LOVE your card! TFS!

February Smeared & Smudged Sketch Challenge

The new Smeared & Smudged challenges are up and ready for you to participate in! I got instantly inspired by Kelli’s card sketch for the month, as I have been working with different ideas for my next “Tarot Card.” Haha! That’s actually pretty funny! If you’ve been checking in over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen my Misty Benson Tarot Set 1 ( Smeared Ink ) cards. I’ve used The World and The Fool so far. Today, I bring you Death. Don’t worry…it’s actually a joyful image…one that I intend to use a lot! First, here’s the sketch. I flipped it and changed the ribbon and embellishment a bit. Can I just start off by saying that it is quite nerve wracking to slice your image??? I have done it a few times in the past, but I always get butterflies when I attempt it again. I colored the image and the card itself using nothing but Distress Inks and my Cut-n-Dry Nibs. My skull button at the top has been colored with Alcohol Inks.   The colors look a little off to m

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
