Something Sweet and a Goddess...with Paint Chips!

I love paint chips. From an artist's perspective...I just love to look at colors...figure out what colors and tones are used to make them, and checking out which combos look good together. And from a crafter's perspective, I love to use them in fun ways around the house and on my projects. So, for both of my projects for today, I have used a paint chip. Let's start with A Step in the Dark . We are sponsored by Smeared Ink and the challenge is Anything Goes. Nice and simple! I used the lovely Luna for my card. I colored her with alcohol markers. Can you spot the paint chip? It's the pretty textured metallic piece behind Luna. It's a Martha Stewart chip, and I thought it was lovely. It has a great sheen. My Goddess sentiment is a rubber stamp, also from Smeared Ink. This is an ATC for the new Wicked Wednesday challenge. The theme is Something Sweet and we are sponsored by Sami Stamps. The paint chip is a little more obvious here, I think. It's 2 ve...

Chromatic Craze #7 with Bombshell's Sketch

Greetings! It's time for the latest Chromatic Craze challenge. I love the colors that Laura chose for us this month. Take a look. I am pairing this challenge with this month's Bombshell Stamps ' Sketch Challenge. For my card, I used Koi Tattoo , and a sentiment from Ahoy Sailor. I love me some paint chips. So when I saw the sketch, (you'll have to visit the Bombshell Blog to see it), I knew I needed to use one. And I really thought that the serene colors of this months Chromatic Craze challenge worked really well with this stamp set. I usually see this koi in orange or another bright color, so I wanted to give it a different look. I used Copics and Spectrum Noir Markers for the focal image. It was fun to work with this muted palette. Won't you play along with both Chromatic Craze and the Bombshells ? Please be sure to visit both blogs for the rules and more ideas. Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

DICC #31

Hello! It's time for a new Desert Islands Crafters Challenge ! In addition, it is also time for a new Beyond the Burtonesque Dolls challenge, but I'll be posting my project for it later in the week. In the meantime, you can visit the rest of the Dolls on the main Blog. But lets get back to the new DICC challenge. This itinerary was chosen by our DT Member Angela. It's a good one! Remember, you need to use at least 3 of the items off of the itinerary in order to play along. Here's the list. 1. For a boy 2. Personalized (add a name or two) 3. What's your number? 4. Doodles (draw on it) 5. Seam Binding 6. 2+ images 7. Something old 8. Something New 9. Something Free 10. Something blue  I decided to make a book mark for my son. He very often has a book in his hands, and more likely then not, it is his huge volume of Thomas the Train stories. I used numbers 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, and 10. 1 and 2 are obvious. My 7, 9, and 10 is the paint chip...

Color Throwdown #63

Ahhhh……… After a pondering for a long, long time, I finally made a card for the latest Color Throwdown Challenge. It, for some reason, was a real toughie for me. But, when the inspiration finally hit… everything fell in to place. The colors you needed to use this week were Kraft, Dark Brown, Olive Green and Dark Yellow. So my inspiration came from one of my favorite non-craft items… Paint Chips! Yup, my candy corn is a big ‘ol paint chip from Behr Paint. I use these a lot because they’re so wide. All of the cardstock is from Prism, and the stamps (inked with Staz-On) are from Cosmo Cricket. I also used Walnut Stain ink from Ranger and Amber Clay ink from Color Box. The paint chip has a bit of a sheen, so regular ink doesn’t really stick which is why I used the Staz-On. I am really happy that I got this card done. I was a bit worried that I wouldn’t get to participate this week because my ideas just weren’t working out. But I must say, I am quite happy with the end result. It’s a “...
