Get Kids Crafty November Hop: Christmas Unicorn

Hello and welcome to the November Get Kids Crafty Blog Hop! This month, our theme is Christmas. When I mentioned the theme to my daughter, she knew what she wanted to make right away. Rhiannon loves everything unicorn. She's like her Mom! We found this unicorn stamp with coordinating die at Michaels from their Recollections brand. She thought this would be the perfect focal for a magical Christmas card. She colored her unicorn with Memento markers from Imagine and a gold metallic marker from Spectrum Noir. She die cut the unicorn, then a couple of Fitted Frames from Stampendous to use as mats. To add more sparkle and magic, Rhiannon added some sequins from Doodles Paper Playground. She used the Bells are Ringing and Boughs of Holly Sparkle Blends. And since you can never have too much sparkle, she also added some Stickles to the mane, and around the unicorn. Miss R has been working on her handwriting, so she chose to write her sentiment out instead of stamping or die cu...

Here's what my daughter and I came up with. She decided to start making place cards for Thanksgiving dinner. She has a ton of ideas, and may wind up making them all different! We decided to start with 2, and then go on from there. For both place cards, she used patterned ...

Boo Banner: Get Kids Crafty Blog Hop

Hello crafty peeps! I am really excited to share today's project with you. It's for the September Get Kids Crafty Blog hop, and our theme is...wait for it....Halloween! It's the most wonderful time of year, and my daughter and I were really stoked to make this project together. Miss R really wanted to make some kind of decoration instead of a card, so we decided to make a banner together. I have an old Sizzix banner die set that cuts out different parts of banners so that it is extremely customizable. She went through my Halloween papers, and of course fell in love with some glitter cardstock from an older Martha Stewart paper pad. Then she decided that she wanted a purple background and green letters for her "Boo." Knowing that the word is only 3 letters long, we thought that it needed to have at least 2 more sections, so we grabbed the Framed Witch Metal Stencil from Stampendous. The stencil is perfect, because we were able to easily have the witch facin...

Get Kids Crafty April 2018 Blog Hop

Greetings! It's my second Blog Hop this week! This is a super special one because it is for Get Kids Crafty , which is a super important topic for me. I think it is extremely important to get kids to create things and to let them play with our tools, supplies, and to teach them what we know as crafters to help them develop into little artists. My daughter (Miss R) is participating in this hop, which has the theme of "Ocean." She used one of the Manatees and shells from Beth Duff Designs' Manatee stamp set. In addition to coloring the 2 stamped images with Memento Markers from Imagine, she also did a number of other techniques. Miss R made her background with Distress Oxide inks in Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers. She applied them with an inking tool and spritzed the inks with Sheer Shimmer Spritz in Sparkle to not only oxidize the inks, but to give the background a pretty shimmer. Once it was dried, she applied Tangerine Chalk Ink from Color Box to a Shell Wreath...

Kids Craft: A Christmas Card

Seasons Greetings! This month, the Imagine AIR's are sharing Kids Craft projects. This is totally up my alley because my children and I make crafts together all the time. So my daughter and I put on our thinking caps, and came up with this sweet Christmas Lights card. She and I are going to walk you through the whole process, which actually is pretty easy! I cut a piece of white cardstock down to 5 1/4" x 3 3/4" and let my daughter (Miss R) create the "string" for the lights with a Cottage Ivy Memento Marker. She drew just one across the top. And you can see her chosen colors for the "lights" in the photo. Using her index finger, Miss R first dipped into Lady Bug Memento Ink and stamped it a couple of times on the light string. Next she used a different finger in Dandelion ink. We made sure to flip the cardstock over so that her lights were going in several directions. She then used Tangelo, Cottage Ivy, Bahama Blue, Grape Jelly, and Ros...

Her Bed/His Bed

Truth be told, I have not wanted to ignore my blog lately. And I honestly haven’t. I have been re-doing my sidebar a bit, just not putting up too many posts. I have been busy working on projects that I can’t post yet (one will be tomorrow though!!!). So, I figured I’d show you a layout I made for a custom album that I did a couple of months ago. Sorry it’s kind of a crummy photo. Here, the kids took pictures in each others bed! Apparently, they loved this! I used several fonts for the title (all American Crafts Stickers), but added a shadow in black marker to give them all a touch of similarity and to ground them. Did the sae with these rad arrows from Daisy D’s. And, I used some fun papers that look kinda wacky together, but I think absolutely work on this layout. Ok… gotta run! The kids are itching to go outside and play! Have an inspiring day!!!

Mother's Day 2009

I am a Mom. It's still weird for me to say that even though I've been a Mom for over 2 years now. I guess I still feel like a kid myself sometimes. But, I am so proud to have the title. My babies are awesome. Phoenix is the cutest, funniest little kid and he never ceases to amaze me. Have I mentioned that he recognizes every letter of the alphabet ? Yes... at 2 years old! But I digress... And my little Rhiannon is getting prettier every day. I love those HUGE smiles that she's always giving me. I look so forward to the many things she will do to amaze me. Mother's Day this year was nice. We got to see both my mom and my mother-in-law... But, honestly, I think it's kind of a silly holiday (don't get me wrong, I will always want handmade cards from my kids on this day!). Mother's Day is a day when you're supposed to tell your mom how much you love her; which is great... we should all tell our moms (or anyone that's important to us) how much we love th...
