21st Century Pillow Book

My goodness! What a crazy couple of weeks I have had! Board meetings, chairing committees, Moving Up Day, last day of preschool, 10 washer keychain orders, 4 Pampered Chef shows, and I don't even remember what else. Needless to say, I. Am. Tired. And, I forgot to post my Dilly Beans project, so I am posting it today. Also, since it is the 15th, there is a new Desert Islands Crafters Challenge , and this time, we are being sponsored by Bombshell Stamps ! The Dilly Beans challenge this week is "Under the Sea." I used Kiki the Mermaid for my tag. I colored her with watercolor markers and alcohol markers. My background was made by using the Web stencil from Stencil Girl , and buffing Peeled Paint and Broken China Distress Ink on to the tag in a random way. Super easy, but I think it alludes to reflecting water. I also created a border with teal stencil glitter. On to DICC! Here's the itinerary..... 1. Die Cut/ Punch 2. Oriental Item 3. It's sketch challenge time with the Bombshell gals! Kathi has come up with another wonderful sketch for us to work with. I decided to use Bombshell Stamps ' Peek-A-Boo Geisha and Man's Ruin for my card. I altered the sketch only slightly. I have to say, I really enjoy coloring in the parasols that come in this set. You can really change up the feel of the geisha with how you color her parasol. What a fun set to play with! I used Copics for my image. And I stamped my sentiment with a watercolor marker. It's a little tough to see the colors...I used very pale shades. But the parasol itself has a pretty gradation of color on it. But my photos make it look a bit washed out. I sprayed the background with Lily Pad Glimmer Mist, just to bring out the green in her shoes a bit. Have you checked out the other versions of this sketch? No?
