Make a Path

Hello! Today, I have a new shaker card to share with you. I was really inspired by one of the newest stamp sets from Beth Duff Designs , and I hadn't had a chance to play with it until now. The set is called Faith Can Move Mountains. Unfortunately, the company is going out of business so if have been interested in any of their stamp sets, this is the only opportunity you'll have to shop. I knew when I started this card that I was going to make a shaker, and I let the card happen organically. This helped me to decide which Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground I was going to use. I chose But First, Coffee . Gingerbread Man would have worked too, but I opted to steer away from the glitter sequins found in Gingerbread Man, simply because of the overall look of this card. I started off with Kraft cardstock and I embossed the mountain scene with Champagne PearLustre embossing powder from Stampendous. I used a Posca Pen to add some snow to the mountains, and I inked the e...

Beth Duff Designs Fall Release

Hello! Today I am a part of the Beth Duff Designs Fall Release Blog Hop. There are many new sets available, and I will be featuring the Bless Our Nest stamp set. I really love the sentiment, "Home is wherever we are together" that comes in this stamp set. It's just lovely. I knew I wanted to start there with my card design. I also thought the bird houses were sweet, and that it would be fun to have a colorful row of them. The images were all stamped with VersaFine Clair Ink in Nocturne, and colored with Zig Clean Color Markers. I wanted to add a subtle background, so I used the Herringbone Metal Stencil from Stampendous (It's a favorite of mine) with some Antique Linen Distress Ink. I went heavy with the ink in some spots, and lighter in others. It gives the background a softer look that I love. I also added a few sequins from Doodles Paper Playground with some On Point Glue. It gave it just the little bit of shine that the card needed. Below I have the ...

Lemonade Stand

Hello again! Let's talk about refreshments. What drinks do you enjoy on a hot summer's day. Iced coffee? Water? How about some good old fashioned lemonade? Beth Duff Designs just released this adorable set called " So Sweet " and it has a wonderful lemonade stand in it. I thought it would make a fantastic shaker card. And it does! The "so sweet" sentiment fits in the sign, but I decided instead to use the lemons. I colored the stand in with Zig Clean Color Markers. I chose to use the Sweet Treats Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground. The colors of the Blend coordinated so well with the markers I used to color in the stand. I kept the background pretty simple and created a ground with blue paper that has a subtle pattern on it. The other paper has textured dots, which I love. I'll be honest, it was tricky to cut out the pennants, so I actually cut it off to make my life easier and then glues it back on once the shaker was finished. Th...

This Trio is Better Together

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Beth Duff Designs Summer Release Hop! If you've been on my blog this week, you've seen that I had 2 cards that featured the Better Together stamp set. I am so loving this set. The food is so cute, and I really like the sentiments. Well today, I have a third card using that set. This card makes me think of summer on the boardwalk. Coney Island definitely comes to mind. Pretty sure I've had this as a meal there before. I colored the food and drink using my Zig Clean Color Markers. I fussy cut them out, and then used foam adhesive on the back. I gave the drink two layers of foam to pop him up even higher. My background was done pretty easily, thanks to my Tim Holtz stamp platform. You can of course use another type of platform, or even just an acrylic block to do the repeated sentiment, but it is much easier in a stamping tool. I used various colors of Color Box chalk ink. I chose colors that coordinated with the marker colors I used ...

I Want Pizza. But First, Coffee

Hello! I'm back with not only a new shaker card featuring another fabulous Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground , but the card also has new stamps from Beth Duff Designs . Did you check out my post yesterday? You'll see my first card featuring the "Better Together" set. My card today uses the adorable pizza image and coordinating sentiment. I thought this was perfect to use with the " But First, Coffee " Sparkle Blend. Check out the beautiful chocolate browns of this particular Sparkle Blend, along with some lovely iridescence. I thought it mimicked toppings on a pizza nicely. I used a leftover die cut from Lawn Fawn to make the shaker, and it was the perfect size. This die is from the Magic Color Slider set. My background was done with the Small Cathedral Windows stencil and VersaColor ink in White. I also spritzed on Tuxedo Black and Desert Sand Fireworks! Spray , and I finished off the edge of the card base with Champagne Delicata ink. ...

Better Together: Burger and Fries

Hello! Today I have the pleasure of sharing one of the new Summer 2018 release stamp sets from Beth Duff Designs . This set is called "Better Together" and it is a great little set of adorable food! When I first got the stamp set, I decided to color all of the images first, and then break them up into separate cards. Take a look. Aren't they so cute?! So, on looking at the finished images, I knew I really wanted the burger with the fries. Something I really like to do is to make a background with small stamps. These guys aren't exactly tiny, but I knew they would work. So I stamped a bunch of the burger and fries on some white cardstock, using London Fog Memento ink from Imagine . I made sure to place my main foods in the middle and to stamp around them. Then I popped up my focal food with foam tape. That bun sure looks toasty! After that, I took a piece of gray cardstock, flipped to the back so that I would be working on the non-textured side, and I stam...

Get Kids Crafty Blog Hop: Dinosaurs

Hello! It's time for the June Get Kids Crafty Blog Hop! This month's theme is "Dinosaurs." Beth, from Beth Duff Designs was once again very generous, and let us use her Rawrsome digital stamp set for this hop. My daughter and I each made a card for the hop. Here's mine... I decided to go with pastel dinos because, why not? I usually see them in earth tones, so I wanted to shake things up a bit. I colored them with Zig Clean Color Markers. I also used a Tim Holtz Stencil with some Distress Oxide Inks for my background. Here's my daughter's card. She went with the bold colors of Memento Markers. I especially love her rainbow dinosaur! And I think it is hilarious that she has one dino riding the back of another. The inside has the rest of the dinosaurs. I love her card. Her script (which she is so proud of), her misspelling of "birthday" because she was concentrating so hard on her script, the way she colored all of the dinosaurs...e...

Get Kids Crafty April 2018 Blog Hop

Greetings! It's my second Blog Hop this week! This is a super special one because it is for Get Kids Crafty , which is a super important topic for me. I think it is extremely important to get kids to create things and to let them play with our tools, supplies, and to teach them what we know as crafters to help them develop into little artists. My daughter (Miss R) is participating in this hop, which has the theme of "Ocean." She used one of the Manatees and shells from Beth Duff Designs' Manatee stamp set. In addition to coloring the 2 stamped images with Memento Markers from Imagine, she also did a number of other techniques. Miss R made her background with Distress Oxide inks in Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers. She applied them with an inking tool and spritzed the inks with Sheer Shimmer Spritz in Sparkle to not only oxidize the inks, but to give the background a pretty shimmer. Once it was dried, she applied Tangerine Chalk Ink from Color Box to a Shell Wreath...
