Botanic Hello Shaker Card

Hello! Botanic Hello that is..... Today, I have a card to share that I made for Imagine's current challenge, which is "Movement," made with Mama Elephant's Botanic Hello stamp. The theme had all sorts of ideas swirling in my head, but I decided I really wanted to make a shaker card, filled not just with sequins, but seed beads as well.

I started off by coloring this beautiful image, which I stamped with VersaFine ink in Onyx Black. This stamp may seem daunting at first, but if you break it down into chunks, coloring it can go pretty fast. I started off with the leaves, then the flowers I colored in shades of blue, then the last group of flowers. I fussy cut the image out, then decided to add some glitter to the "hello." Using On Point Glue,  I applied it to the top third of the letter, sprinkled on some glitter, and shook off the excess. I repeated this step twice more to complete the word. On Point Glue dries quickly, but I let it sit aside for a bit while I chose and cut my cardstock colors.

My card base is made out of Grasshopper cardstock and was cut to 6 1/2" x 10." I created my layers with my Sizzix dies and paper trimmer. I assembled the shaker box in the standard way, by applying a piece of acetate to a cardstock frame, adhering foam tape to the back, and applying it to the card base. But, as I mentioned earlier, I added not only sequins, but seed beads as well, which I thought added some great texture, movement and sound to the card. On the frame of my shaker window, I splashed on some Sheer Shimmer Spritz in Frost.

The card has such a big shaker window...my kids and I ave a hard time not playing with it! Thank you so much for visiting. Have an inspiring day!

Echo Park Blog Hop with Imagine

Greetings! This is my second post for the day. This one is not part of the 31 Days of Halloween, but rather a super-duper blog hop that the Artists in Residence for Imagine are doing with Echo Park . So if you're here for my Day 7 project, please check out the post HERE . But before you do that, scroll on to check out this one. There are prizes up for grabs, so be sure to check out the Imagine Blog as well as the Echo Park Blogs for details. I created my background by applying Dandelion and Tangelo Memento Ink to my brayer. Then I sprayed it with Ink Potion No. 9 to help the colors blend and to act as an extender to keep the inks wet longer. After I rolled the colors out on to watercolor paper and let it dry, I stamped the lovely doily-like image from Echo Park's Simply Sweet Stamp Set with Grape Jelly Memento. I also received the super pretty Heart Doily Designer Die  which I used with a true purple cardstock. But it needed something....and in rolls the super fabul...
