August as an Adjective with Dreamweaver

As we are heading towards back-to-school again, it is only appropriate that we break out our dictionary for this month's Dreamweaver challenge..."AUGUST as an ADJECTIVE"!
Merriam-Webster defines august as, "marked by majestic dignity or grandeur", with synonyms such as, "dignified, distinguished, imposing, portly, solemn, staid, and stately". Now, I don't know just how dignified and stately the Dream Team can become for an entire month, but we are all going to give it a try! How about trying along with us, and linking YOUR creations to the inlinkz tool below for a chance to win the wildest stencil design your little heart is screaming for.

Here's my creation for this week:

I find Christmas trees to be rather majestic and stately, so I thought this would work for the current challenge. I started out with the Open Christmas Tree...this is a really fun stencil, and I will be showing you several different projects I made with it over the next few weeks. You can do SO much with it, since it is open. This time, I chose to work with the Scales stencil to fill in the tree. It gives the tree a very traditional feel.

I used a Versa Mark ink from Imagine Crafts, and applied it with a stencil brush with the rouging technique. I had masked off the star and stand, and after the green was down, I colored in those areas with the same technique. For my sentiment, I applied the Happy Holidays stencil by using gold embossing paste. I love the sheen it has and the dimension. I used a texturizer to rough up the edge of my focal cardstock.

I hope you can see....my focal piece of cardstock has shimmery bits throughout it...it's so pretty in real life. Plus, my under layer is a shimmery gold. But I thought the tree needed more...so I used s shimmery pen from Sakura to add a burgundy "garland" to the tree; just by following the scales pattern. I also used a clear version of the pen for the star. This was simple enough to easily recreate quickly, if I wanted to have a batch ready to go for the holidays. My husband really loved this one, and that is always a good thing! Now, why not check out what the rest of B Team has in store? Please visit the Dream it Up! blog to see the link list for this week. Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga

Remembering Aletha

Greetings, Friends. This post today is part of a very special blog hop. We are celebrating the life of an amazingly talented artist and friend. The crafting community lost Aletha Jane Williams on May 5, 2019. Those of us that worked with her on Design Teams or on Challenge Blogs all agree that she was one of the sweetest and most talented women we knew. We are not here to mourn her loss though. This hop is happening in conjunction with a very special celebration of her life and her art that her husband Bob is holding in her home city of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Please join us in honoring our incredibly creative friend Aletha . My card features the "Remembering Aletha" Sprite, which Mitzi (owner and artist of Aurora Wings ) created specifically for this hop. She is generously giving the digi away to all, over on her blog. This sweet Sprite looks so much like Aletha, and I know she would have been honored. If you download this digi for yourself, please be sure to give a huge "
