StampInsanity Challenge #5

Hello! Can you believe we are up to the FIFTH StampInsanity Challenge? Where does the time go??? This is a sketch challenge, and I’ve gotta say, I must have used my sketch mojo for yesterday’s post, because I had a heck of a time with this one! Take a look at the sketch:

Pretty straight forward right? I guess because I was Hell-bent on using a Roder image I had colored in weeks ago, I had a tough time. I don’t know… check out my card and tell me what you think!

Cool-Roder-1

First, I gotta say, I am SO lovin’ Roder! He is just too friggin’ cool! Check out that awesome hair! I can only hope that Nix can rock out his hair one day like this!

A close up of the handsome fellow. He’s colored with colored pencils, of course! I honestly love how he came out. The colors worked out exactly as I saw them in my head. Just check out his hair!!! I think I used 5 colors in his hair alone! Remember, you can click on any of my photos to see them bigger!

I thought this paper worked out perfect too… it was just that I had so much space left! I probably should have switched the card to a rectangle. It would have thrown the sketch off a bit, but I don’t think Beth would have slapped my wrists for it! It took me forever to find something to throw in the corner. I didn’t want to put “friends” or “buds” or “Happy Birthday.” I just wanted it to be cool. And hey! I found “cool!” It’s a clear sticker from DCWV. And actually, the color was way too bright for the card. So I mounted it on a beige cardstock so that it dulled the brightness down quite a few notches. Then I added some Vintage Ink Distress Stickles for a wee bit more dimension.

Over all, I am pretty happy with it. I struggled, yeah, but I did get it done! And I think it’s pretty “cool!” Now please go and take a peek at the rest of the Groovy Gurlz awesome cards! But show me some love first puh-leaze! Have an inspiring day!!!

Christmas in July with Imagine Crafts & Stencil Girl!

Hello! Have you heard? The Imagine AIRs have been hopping with Stencil Girl! If you have been here before, you know I loooove me some stencils, so this collaboration was very exciting for me! The teams are hopping for 3 consecutive Saturdays, and this is week 2. I have the entire list of hop links at the bottom of the post. Be sure you don't miss anyone! I decided to to create an extra large gift tag with my new stencils. Using red cardstock, I taped down the Journal Texture #8 Stencil  and inked it up with Golden Glitz Delicata ink . I promise you, this is the BEST gold ink you will ever use! The Journal stamp only has 2 diamonds on it (it's a 4x4" stencil), so after I inked up the first pair, I moved over the stencil, lined it up, and inked again. Next I wanted to do something textural with the Urban Insiders Star . So I took some evergreen cardstock, taped down the star, and slathered on some yummy Iridescent Green Creative Medium . After the medium dried, I ga
